  1. Hmmm. That doesn't bode well with me.. I'm more of a melody than rhythm guy. (one of the reasons The Lost World is in my bottom 10 post-1975 Williams scores)
  2. https://www.filmtracks.com/titles/red_violin.html I don't interpret 4 out of 5 stars, as he didn't like it! * * * The dialogue in soundtracks, is getting on my nerves! Why on earth would I like to hear dialogue with the music? If I wanted to, I would watch the film! Really now! Anyway, I'm in a Mancini mode lately. This is decent! By the way, I've never seen a single W.C. Fields film in my life!
  3. I wanted to love this soundtrack, but for some reason I didn't!
  4. Yeah, it would be great if they gathered all the unreleased concert pieces, and released a cd of it. (and throw in them Dear Basketball too)
  5. Is it thematic? Does it have a couple of full-fledged themes? Or none? Sorry that I'm asking and not listening myself. I will listen to it probably tomorrow, because these couple of days are very hectic at work, and I don't have time to lie down and relax, clear my mind of everything and just listen. Also, does anyone think that it will get nominated for an Oscar, now that you heard it?
  6. I haven't listened to this yet. So, what is the general consensus here? Masterpiece? Great? Average? Would you put it in your top 10 Williams scores ever?
  7. Always refreshing to listen to a Mancini score that doesn't sound like "lounge" source music! Not that I don't like that kind, but I have linked soundtracks with something more than that.. By the way, does this ring a bell? (the film was released in 1974)
  8. You know, I had never thought of these aspects you're bringing up now about the movie and Roy leaving his family etc. And you know why? By the end of the movie, even before he stepped into the spaceship, I had even forgotten he had a family! This is how much I cared about them!
  9. I found the whole family and Roy's obsession scenes annoying. I love mostly only the last 20 minutes or so from that film!
  10. I wanted to draw your attention to this masterpiece of a soundtrack, that was briefly discussed in the Neumation updates thread. I was longing for years for the sheet music for this, and then, out of the blue, @Skelly said it's available for free, at the composer's own site (I almost had a heart attack! ): https://www.ykanno.com/works-en (by the way, I had even contacted the composer years ago, and I had received a negative reply to my query if his score would be available some day in written form) You can listen in this playlist, the original soundtrack release, plus 2 unreleased cues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCwz5lxoRIU&list=PL-zSJVcg1Q7C9SNhX5xxrlMiFIjWA3wig Track 9 that is missing from the above list is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8uoizNL81g This one of the most beautiful, (mostly) atonal scores I've ever heard, sublime, ethereal and angelic. Orchestration lacks woodwinds and brass, and includes all the others (plus choir which is the best element). I post here the score again, with bookmarks I made for each cue, and corresponding tracks (unreleased tracks included). https://mega.nz/file/KhIhkKxK#kSDj5M0nR50AqSFDZw476MtLMRpQtmsT_XflGi2Yndg I was a bit mixed up in track 5 and in track 12 (I don't know what is superimposed after 3.52''. I see at page 3 of the pdf, it connects M19 with M18-20-21. So maybe something of these 3 cues is overlapping with M19? If you figure it out, please let me know). By the way, the film also is a masterpiece, although you don't understand a thing about it! If you like this kind of films, it will be worth seeking it out!

    Hook

I LOVE Hook! I wish I had seen it at the cinema back then... I'm sure I'd love it even more! By the way, is that Kate Capsaw behind? I wonder why she retired acting. I liked her as a presence.
  12. So, I completed Goldenthal's officially released filmography. It seems I had already listened to the best of him! I didn't find anything here particularly outstanding. I just liked some individual cues here and there.. Does anyone consider any of the above, top-5 Goldenthal? I wish I could listen to Grand Isle (1991) though. A Victorian romance, would be interesting to hear from him.
  13. You're kidding, right? This is my favorite film of all time!
  14. Hehe. Really, we needed just 2 threads: one for the film and one for the score. I cannot understand the existence of so many threads on a film. It will surely become difficult/confusing to keep up with all threads. But anyway...
