robthehand 3
In order to avoid having hundreds of topics (mostly started by me ) about specific aspects of the OT music, this thread will (hopefully) combine all that into one. robthehand 3
One question about Empire: is there or is there not an alternate "Imperial March" - based on this article (page 32) and the music heard in the film? Also: is "Han Solo and the Princess" two cues or one? Jim Ware's cue sheet seems to present it as one, but other sources claim there are two parts - "Han Solo and the Princess" (0:00-2:22) and "Vader and the Emperor" (2:22-end). I was very surprised to find that it was listed as a single track on Jim Ware's cue sheet. That was one of the reasons that made me think that list was made between the Anthology and the SE release, listing the music on the Anthology as it was presented in that set. Judging by my listening, I thought they were indeed two different cues mixed together... I was very surprised to find that it was listed as a single track on Jim Ware's cue sheet. That was one of the reasons that made me think that list was made between the Anthology and the SE release, listing the music on the Anthology as it was presented in that set. That's probably true: although perhaps the scene was extended later and the new part was unscored? I don't know. I've added it to the cue list with a question mark.
soundwave 0
17. THE EMPEROR ARRIVES (ALTERNATE)SE Disc 2 Track 6 (0:00-0:46) [i tried editing the film version together but it didn't work]I've actually made a very great film version of this without doing a DVD rip. It may not be note for note, but it's a heck of a lot closer to the real version than the one of the cd. If Cerrabere lets me, I could put it on the FTP. Vaderbait1 1
Goldwave and Audacity are good programs, and they're free. Well, just so you don't get confused, Goldwave says it's a free trial, but all you have to do is uninstall and reinstall it each time your "trial" runs out. It takes like 3 seconds. robthehand 3
Nearly - with a few exceptions. "Mynock Cave" is on the original Empire CD, but not the anthology. The Star Wars anthology CD has the same music as the original release, but better quality and with tracks rearranged into roughly film sequence. Some tracks have parts restored that were deleted on the original release. Jedi is almost completely different. As far as I can tell, there is really no need for the original releases any more. Trent B 340
I checked my Sony 04' Editions since they're pratically the same as the 97' SE's....for a lot of the ROTJ cues they have been amplified quite a bit...some are too loud. robthehand 3
I think they're (the SEs) generally 2-3 dB higher than the Anthology. Kinda like TPM UE-OST in that respect. It's pretty obvious when you're doing a transition like "Luke Confronts Jabba" to "Den of the Rancor". The SE ending part for "Heroic Ewok" (10:24-end) is actually about 6 dB higher than the Anthology. EDIT: Star Wars complete cue list is up, with Special Edition CD breakdown (or at least what I can make of it ).

robthehand 3
Do we actually know they're separate cues?
DarkLord89 0
I don't think JW wrote a 7+ minute cue which isn't an end credits suite...

robthehand 3
The break is at 7:35. One thing - to Jim Ware or anyone else - is there a cue list (with original titles) for Jedi anywhere?A rough edit of Empire's LP album is up now. Rough - that is - not removing parts of cues that were edited out, only editing the cues together as they were.If anyone has the Empire 2-LP set, I'd be grateful for any further help. DarkLord89 0
The OT scores are such a wonderful musical world to explore... It's been 3 or 4 years now since I bought them (my 2nd, 3rd and 4th score bought, the first was TPM OST) and still I don't know everything of them... lordskylark 1
The Cue "The Tractor Beam" according to the SE booklet says that the cue was originally titled "Ben Creeps Around" on Williams' score.~Sky
lordskylark 1
Actually....according to the SE...the cue title on Williams' score is called just "The Little People" without the 'work' part on it The only ones listed in the SE that they mention the original cues are:The Little PeopleIs it a Bird?Ben Creeps AroundThe SwashbucklersThey didn't list any score sheet titles in Empire or Jedi either.~SKy
ridan 0
The Anthology files for ESB and ANH are on the FT.P now.
VadersQuest 0
Awesome. Thanks man. Do you plan on uploading the stuff from Anthology CD 4 as well?
Vaderbait1 1
So I'm confused her. I haven't been following the thread, and reading it through now, it isn't exactly explained.ROTJ is a complete score as it was scored or as it was heard in the film?ESB is a complete score or just making a CD that already exists with higher sound quality?ANH is a complete score, as it appears in film, or re-creating a CD that already exists? ridan 0
Awesome. Thanks man. Do you plan on uploading the stuff from Anthology CD 4 as well?I didn't upload them. Cerrabore did. He announced it in the Prequel thread, and I remembered this thread.
robthehand 3
So I'm confused here.OK:Star Wars CD Breakdown and Complete Cue List is a list of all the cues recorded for the films. In many cases the Special Edition combined cues together, and this list just explains where all the edits are.Star Wars: Assembling the original release is how to rearrange the tracks into the order that Williams had them on the original 2-LP set. In some ways the music flows better - and some people even prefer it to the complete release. Unfortunately the quality on the original CD release was... pretty bad.The Empire Strikes Back complete cue list is just that - each cue written for the film. Then there is a "assembling the original release" for Empire.Empire Film Mix-Only Complete Score is the complete score to the film, using only the "proper" mixes. The cues were mixed very badly for the special edition, but they are in higher quality. This is for the people who take mix over quality, if you like.Return of the Jedi complete score. This is the complete score to Jedi, including cues left off the special edition. In this case the special edition sound quality was inferior (by quite a lot) to the 1993 anthology release. This replaces SE cues with their anthology counterparts, when they are available.
