Luke Skywalker 1,941
I have seen several typhos in the complete cue list here (like a & b parts of a cue being the contrary, track xy called y, etc) Mostly it's easy to follow and correct, but things like getting rouge city from the album instead of the promo (which has a non mixed opening and is complete) are a mystery to me (maybe this has some explanation i dont know). So has anyone made a 'complete' score with all the music from the promo and album, matching the movie as possible (but using for example the abandoned in the woods from the promo since the film version is unreleased). I mean a version without DVD rips. (track times to the must-be-split cues should be handy)Thanks in advance

jamesluckard 80
I had some free time. (Okay, I admit, too much free time) about two years ago and did just this. It took forever, because even the versions on the 2 disc academy promo are not always identical to the film versions. Also, the final ice planet sequence seems to have been edited together differently for the film and the promo. Here, first, is the tracklisting for my homemade album. I loved the album versions too much to leave them off, so I included them at the end.DISC ONE1)PENDING (3:34)2)DAVID’S NEW HOME (2:45)3)A FEW SIMPLE PROCEDURES (2:41)4)HIDE AND SEEK (3:29)5)IMPRINTING PROTOCOL (4:02)6)PERFUME/”WILL YOU DIE?”/TEDDY (4:12)7)MARTIN COMES HOME (2:01)8)“THIS IS MY SON” (1:29)9)A BIRD (2:17)10)READING PINOCCHIO (1:36)11)“DOES HE EAT?” (1:02)12)“IT DOESN’T HURT” (2:08)13)A LOCK OF HAIR (3:47)14)THE POOL (1:43)15)“DEAR MOMMY”/A DRIVE (3:26)16)ABANDONED IN THE WOODS (2:00)17)I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU (4:07)DICK POWELL18)GUYS AND DOLLS (2:54)STUBBY KAYE AND JOHNNY SILVER19)THE MOON RISING (5:51)20)WHAT ABOUT US? jamesluckard 80
I don't think they're talking about a bootleg 2 disc album of the complete score, but about burning a 2 disc chronological CD of the soundtrack album, mixing in the classical pieces and pop source music as well. There's a guide for doing that at the MR page that I submitted. I've never heard of any other music from MR being available.

fommes 155
7)MARTIN COMES HOME (2:01)8)“THIS IS MY SON” (1:29) The jwfan cue list says that these both cues are alternates (not film versions) of the same segment: Martin Returns. What lead to this conclusion?Isn't the first track too long to fit this scene? If I would have to make a guess, (just a guess), I'd say that the second cue is an alternate to this scene, while the first cue may be for the scene following his arrival, with Teddy having to chose between Martin and David and all? (Which goes unscored in the film). Is this a viable option?

But since they are used in place of the score, and used in the score (not to mention one is on both the album and the promo) I think they warrent inclusion as actual 'score' music tracks.I'm also unsure if the Rosenkavalier Waltz segment in "To Rouge City" was actually arranged by Williams to be played over his music, or if it was a prior recording layered... or if it was a recorded at the same time... so that's another possible source cue.----------------------------------------------#)"Arrival of David (Film)" is on the Promo. It was shortened slightly and had the next cue layered over the last piano note (very common practice) in the film version... #) On the JWfan track list, there is a track called "Intro to" which is really the end of "A Few Simple Procedures" #)"A New Life- Teddy the SUpertoy" is also completely on the promo... the only difference being in the film they edited it to extend certain notes.#) "The Arrival of Martin" as heard in the film is a combination of "A Tough Decision" and the alternate "Martin Returns (Film Version Ending)" Ending.#)The opening to "A Haircut" has a piano ditty tracked over it so it sounds different.#) "Abandoned in the Woods (Film)" is Rouge City on the album... minus the rouge city portion.#)"Neither Flesh Nor Blood" is not used, instead other music is tracked in including "Capturing Mecha"Truly, the only unreleased music is the Joseph Williams source, a few short cues like " I have to Leave you Here" and the film version of "Search for the Blue Fairy" which has slightly different orchestratsions and where the voice humms instead of sings. crumbs 14,891
But damn are they two bloody good cues.Excellent work compiling those lists. fommes 155
32) Stored Memories (Film) -- Album Track 8 [0:00-4:36]33) The Blue Fairy -- Album Track 8 [4:36-End] I've looked into this but it's too confusing.1.The first part is definitely a first section from promo track 4a - under the ice.2. Second section is promo track 6 - stored images.3. last part begins after a piano part, around 5.42 I believe, promo track 4b.(promo track 4 is the long version of your album track)However, I think only parts of the first two sections are used, the second section from 4a isn't in the film for example I think. So either the film got cut and part of the music was lost - making this the complete version.Or: promo track 6 is an alternate to the second part of promo track 4a - and parts of each version wound up in the film. GoodMusician 56
If memory serves, part of stored memories is looped in the film. The film does use a bit of "Stored Memories (Alternate)" when the super-mechas read David's mind, but that's just another case of tracking in music from elsewhere... this just happends to be from an alternate. The bes thing to do is not worry about how they did it in the film. I can assure you that the promo release has almost everything on it... plus what little is on the album that isn't on the promo, you get almost the entire score (minus source music and few short cues and the two "For Always").I also may have misnumbered the Promo tracks as the promo version I got was re-organized... so I had to go by what the track listing is on the "musicbyjw" website... if that is wrong, then my numbers are too.EDIT: I forgot that on the album, about 10 seconds are cut out... so yea, your right. For "The Blue Fairy," use the promo track...
Trent B 340
Man all of this as Lotman said is confusing...By the way the original layout of the A.I. promo should be 11 tracks on Disc 1 and 18 on Disc 2 so I think that website has the layout pretty much right.Edit: As far as the "The Blue Fairy" track goes, don't even use the album version, right? The second part from 4a also doesn't appear in it, so it may be an alternate. GM has seen that there are looped parts too. I see two possibilities:1. the film was shortened in the editing, leaving out music.2. Promo T6 is an alternate to the second part of Promo T4A (I'm not talking of Promo T4B). But bits of both ended up in the movie.I've sequenced my set as above. In this way, I've got all the music available in a sequence which makes sense - no music is lost or ends up in the alternates. Henry B 51
Sorry for the confusion. Let me rephrase it. What the jwfan track list means (but it's wrong as it is), and what Jim Ware means is: Promo track 4a: Under the Ice (5.42) Promo track 6: Stored Memories Promo track 4b: The Blue Fairy (6.00) However in the film the segments Under the Ice and Stored memories run too short to contain all that music. The second part from 4a also doesn't appear in it, so it may be an alternate. GM has seen that there are looped parts too. I see two possibilities: 1. the film was shortened in the editing, leaving out music. 2. Promo T6 is an alternate to the second part of Promo T4A (I'm not talking of Promo T4B). But bits of both ended up in the movie. I've sequenced my set as above. In this way, I've got all the music available in a sequence which makes sense - no music is lost or ends up in the alternates.Just wanted to add to this discussion: my opinion is that promo track 4 is complete and chronological. Promo track 6 is an entirely alternative cue (most of which was used in the film). Two reasons: the "Under the Ice / The Blue Fairy" combination appears on both the OST and the promo, and it nearly matches the film. It's only about ten seconds too short, which film editing can certainly account for. Here are a couple sync points I'm pretty certain of:2:16 (piano enters) matches 1:57:54 in the film (David awakened by the supermecha).4:36 (high string note) matches 2:00:21 in the film (supermecha activates David's memories).5:41 (dissonant string notes) matches 2:01:28 in the film (David opens his eyes), and this is of course the same as in the film.I imagine the cue, incredibly beautiful as it is, was revised because it was just too much. Spielberg probably wanted to reserve Monica's theme for the reveal of the house. Also...Well, that's jut because they didn't use the segment between 4:36-5:42... I don't think its meant to be at the end of "City Under Ice"... especially if you listen to the horrible fade out of the choir in the back... not so much fade out as it just stops.I think it's meant to be a part of "The Blue Fairy"I don't hear this supposed fade out. You can tell by the levels of hiss that a new cue is beginning, but it seems to be mixed where it should be.Because that's the same as promo track 4b. Monica's Theme = The Blue Fairy.OST track 8 "Stored Memories and Monica's Theme" is actually shorter than its promo counterpart, so be sure not to use it.Also, for "Rouge City," I wouldn't use the OST for the intro. It's a little more separated (though not totally clean) on the promo.
fommes 155
You're probably right (but where were you two years ago for confirmation ) - that would put a rest to the question whether it's for a missing middle part or an alternate. Thus it's a bit similar to the Reunion cue on WOTW.For your insight, here's the track list I ended up with:1. Cybertronics 3.312. The Arrival of David 2.473. A Few Simple Procedures 2.424. Hide and Seek 3.225. Imprinting Protocol 4.016. Perfume / Will you Die? / Teddy 4.117. Martin Returns (Alternate) 1.318. David and Martin 2.049. A Bird 2.1710. Stories 1.3611. The Dinner 1.0212. It Doesn't Hurt (Unused) 2.0713. A Lock of Hair 3.4614. The Pool Sequence 1.3915. Abandoned in the Woods (Album Version) 6.26 [edit of two tracks]16. The Moon Rising (Film Version) 5.4817. Leaving the Flesh Fair / We Found Him 2.1918. Mecha, Orga, Man or Woman? (Unused) 0.4619. Rouge City 3.3120. Come Away, Oh Human Child 1.311. The Mecha World 6.592. Replicas 5.593. The Search for the Blue Fairy 6.104. Under the Ice 5.415. Stored Memories 4.576. The Blue Fairy 5.587. David and the Supermecha 4.008. The Reunion (Film Version) 7.459. End Credits - Where Dreams Are Born 4.1910. For Always11. Abandoned in the Woods (Film Version) 2.0012. The Moon Rising (Album Version) 4.2613. The Reunion (Alternate) 6.5914. For Always (Duet)Of course, if you would want to get this entirely right, following the latest theory - Stored Memories should be put between the alternates.By the way, there's a similar thread here. fommes 155
Oh I've just tacked 'Abandoned in the Woods' (the album one) onto the previous cue - makes for a nice 'listening experience'. Henry B 51
According to GM's list the previous cue is unreleased... so you combined it with the cue preceding that one, "A Drive"?Also, I suspect the album version of "Abandoned in the Woods" is a concert piece. It's a minute longer and it has all the staples of Williams's concert or end credits material. I can't see it being intended for use in the film given the music from 1:40-2:10, and the quiet section at the end couldn't have been intended for the following Gigolo Joe scene. The motif at the end of A Drive is the same motif as in Abandoned in the Woods, and the cue just abruptly ends. I like it better when it goes into the Abandoned in the Woods piece like in my edit. I also liked the albume version better than the promo version, so I put that one in the main body of my edit. This is all just for listening purposes of course. (I also think it's a concert version, by the way.)
King Mark 3,729
Does anyone have a skip free WAV of David and the Supermecha? Weebo's copy (that most of us have) had a skip at 2.29 I mean ripped from an intact skip free Promo and not edited out.
Henry B 51
I have a skip free version somewhere, but I accidentally deleted it from my hard drive so I've only got a lossy copy right now... I'll try to hunt down the CD-Rs.
