Incanus 5,818
Well it looks like we got a lion's share of this score with the LLL release. Some of those film versions with inserts and what not excluded.Interesting. Enter Rufio is missing 20 seconds. And so is The End of Hook. Could they not be found for the release?Do you happen to know what they contain Jason?

Do you happen to know what they contain Jason? We've discussed the missing 20 seconds of The End Of Hook many times over. It's the portion that was dialed out in the film after the Croc falls on Hook, and the dust clears while the Lost Boys question "Is Hook gone?". The original music Williams wrote for that is a triumphant fanfare version of The Lost Boys Theme. The missing end of Enter Rufio I suspect was only performed on the earlier takes, and a later take is what appeared on the Concord / pre-Concorde boots (and the LLL CD). Basically the missing end is just a slower reprise of the end of the cue as you know it, nothing major.

Jay 39,596
So did anyone ever notice before that "The Arrivial Of Tink" on the pre-Concorde boot featured a complete different performance of the celeste passage than you know from the film/OST/Concorde/LLL CD? It's at a much higher pitch and sounds more "other-wordly"/Fairy-like; It was a good idea but after hearing the result I think they were wise to re-do it and make it sound more "normal" 2 other things I think a lot of people don't realize: "The Arrival Of Tink" does NOT overlap with "I Don't Believe In Fairies" (aka the Flight To Neverland) in the film - that combination was something crafted for the OST. And to make it happen, they removed the opening few notes of I Don't Believe In Fairies to make it sound better! "The Banquet" fades out early on the OST and that fade was retained for the LLL CD; The original cue went on repeating for longer before ending (as heard in the film or boots) bollemanneke

MissPadmé 17
I also noticed a "sloppy" transition in "The Ultimate War Part I: To War" 2:22-2:23. looking at your list Jason it makes sense, "To War" ends and "Crossed Swords" does overlap with its last note I guess,on the LaLa CD Crossed Swords starts a little to early, which may hardly be noticable, yes - but it seems like something that could have been easily avoided. The Original Album does NOT have that sloppy edit - it plays just fine. Jay 39,596
Yep. It sounds to me like all the tracks on the LLL CD containing multiple cues were combined from scratch from the original recording sessions cues (with the possible exception of We Don't Wanna Grow Up). It's most noticeable in the first half of The Ultimate War, but you can also tell Granny Wendy, Hook-Napped, etc are all different than the OST segues as well. Form Rank also comes in too early. Jay 39,596
Jason: about the unreleased ending of rufio's entrance, i was told it was meant to segue into lost boys chase, so it is somewhat important?I have no idea if it was meant to segue to Lost Boys Ballet or not. I don't even know if the final cut of the film matches the footage that Williams wrote Enter Rufio to
TownerFan 5,238
It could be, but we don't have enough material to proof. It's clear the movie was re-edited quite a bit after the scoring sessions.

Jay 39,596
I think there is a very strong possibility it was meant to segue to The Lost Boys Ballet. I'd love to see Williams' sketch, as that would confirm it
Mitchell 0
I actually found something soothing about that remix. Clearly I've been listening to too much Black Swan.

Kendal_Ozzel 36
Yeah, I love it too. That guy's got some other great ones, although Hook is probably my favorite. Also, I love how he takes the awesome-but-brief Smee dance and makes it into something even better. John Crichton 4
Thanks Jason. I really, really, really don't want to do any editing but at least I can make a playlist that's approximate enough.John- contemplating unburying the old music editor from underneath vast amounts of accumulated digital dust
Incanus 5,818
I am not sure if this has been discussed since the Hook discussion has been going on so strong in several threads but Jason you mentioned that some of the takes on the LLL set are not the film versions, and of course there obviously different takes like the Pirates! (5m6/6m1 Hook's Entrance) with that extra fanfare. Can we say how much of the LLL set is comprised of film takes?
publicist 4,647
I'd love to have the different shorter cues from ULTIMATE WAR I available. I can't stand sections of that cue because the somewhat portentous jauntiness, but so it means a prolonged session with Adobe Audition (with surely questionable results). Sometimes the LLL set has the film take and the boots had an alternate one, sometimes its the other way around, etc.
JohnnyD 1,329
Hi, Jason. Thank you for listing all of the cues. I was just curious to ask you about one of the cues: 5M2 Arrival At Neverland.Exactly what is this cue?And what exactly is the last unreleased 20 seconds of 7M4 Enter Rufio? Also, could you elaborate to me on the missing, unused 20 seconds of 15M2 The End of Hook? JohnnyD 1,329
5M2 Arrival At Neverland is unreleased, though. The revised version is the beginning of Presenting the Hook.I would like Jason to answer my three questions that I asked him, not to be rude or anything. Jay 39,596
Hi, Jason. Thank you for listing all of the cues. I was just curious to ask you about one of the cues: 5M2 Arrival At Neverland.Exactly what is this cue?Its exactly the same as the revised version you know from the film, OST, LLL, etc.... Just with less music at the beginning and end. You're not missing anything. And what exactly is the last unreleased 20 seconds of 7M4 Enter Rufio?Basically just a slower reprise of the ending of the cue as you know it. No biggie. Also, could you elaborate to me on the missing, unused 20 seconds of 15M2 The End of Hook? Its a triumphant fanfaric version of the Lost Boys theme. Pretty cool.
