Sequencing Bond

About Live and Let Die - where is the music (if its on the album at all) that plays in the film just before "Solitaire Gets Her Cards" - when Kananga is saying "On the back of Mr. Bond's watch" etc.

And finally, in Die Another Day, what is the Die Another Day-like theme that plays after Miranda Frost shows Bond his room?

Thanks

Rob

According to Lukas Kendall at FSM, the master tapes for Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger could not immediately be found in the EMI vaults around the time he was producing the expanded and remastered soundtracks; the soundtrack album masters were used. Goldfinger's remastered album combines the tracks from both the U.S. and the U.K releases of the album soundtrack and fixes the "Into Miami" cue into a separate cue (the original CD release combined it with "Alpine Drive/Auric's Factory").

If that is true, then how is there non-soundtrack music on the DVD menu?

I don't know about the other regions, but my R2 copy has the music when Bond and Jill are talking "The Best Place In Town" over the main menu - i.e. Play Movie, Scene Selections etc.

I guess this topic is dead, but I'll say this anyway.

For From Russia With Love, the unused track "The Golden Horn" was meant to underscore a deleted scene which would have gone between "Bond Meets Tania" and "Meeting in St. Sophia", rather than between "Meeting in St. Sophia" and "007 Takes the Lektor".

Another point - in For Your Eyes Only, the music from Track 13, between 0:49 and 1:45 were not meant to go where Neil put them - it is, my sources tell me, either an alternate take of "Run Them Down" or unused music for after the main title. Not 100% certain about that though.

I've made one or two changes to the OHMSS album - better if you want a more precise version of the score, worse if you're not in an editing mood. It still (just) fits on one CD.

1. Gunbarrel / This Never Happened To The Other Feller

CD Track 2

2. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – Main Title

CD Track 6 - (0:00-2:27)

CD Track 6 - (2:19-End) [it was recorded with four bars, not two]

3. We Have All The Time In The World – Instrumental (Album Version)

CD Track 8

4. Try (Album Version)

CD Track 3

5. Journey to Draco’s Hideaway

CD Track 12

6. Bond and Draco

CD Track 13

7. We Have All The Time In The World (Album Version)

CD Track 1

8. Gumbold’s Safe

CD Track 14

9. The College of Arms

CD Track 15 – (1:29-End) [best placed here as this is where Barry intended it to go]

10. Journey to Blofeld’s Hideaway

CD Track 7

11. Bond Settles In / The Alpine Room / Meeting the Count

CD Track 15 – (0:00-1:29) [moved the second half to where it was intended]

12. Dusk at Piz Gloria

CD Track 17

CD Track 18 (0:00-0:17) [the end of the same cue, for some reason split up on the CD]

13. Sir Hilary’s Night Out

CD Track 18 (0:32-End) [removed 0:17-0:32 since it is tracked music]

14. Blofeld’s Plot

CD Track 10

CD Track 21 [i don’t know why, I just feel that these two work better combined]

20. We Have All The Time In The World / End Credits

CD Track 11

18. Man Overboard / The Price of Faliure

19. Destroying the SPECTRE Fleet

Bond Back In Action CD 1, Track 2 (4:36-End)

Oops... I goofed when I originally posted the FRWL tracklisting: Track 18 should be:

Man Overboard

Destroying the SPECTRE Fleet

The Price of Failure (album title - SMERSH In Action) - this is where Kronsteen gets whacked.

There is a brief piece of incidental music tracked in during the fight between Rosa Klebb and Bond.

No - that bit of music from "Dr. No" appears twice in the film - once between "Death of Grant" and "Man Overboard/The Price of Failure", and again between "Man Overboard/The Price of Failure" and the unreleased cue "The Death of Rosa Klebb". It's never between the two though - they're consecutive in the film. :?

If you go to his website and check out the media section, you will see several tracks from soundtracks. Some that aren't released. Like two pieces from TWINE and one from DAD.

My question is, how would one go about ripping that music from the site? It streams in its own window.

Also, if anyone knows enough about these soundtracks, where would one put them in regards to the order of the film in conjunction with the soundtrack?

TWINE: Snow Business - this piece I believe echoes a lot of John Barry in it. I noticed it when I originally saw the film but forgot about it until now. Very nice piece.

TWINE: Khazakstan - A smooth, James Bond doing cool stuff type of rhythm piece. No clue at all where this goes in the film.

DAD: Surf's Up - I assume this is in the beginning of the film

Nevermind about how to get those tracks. I found them in my temp folder. I still would like to know where they go on the soundtrack, however.

This is how I arranged them:

TWINE:

2. King's Money / Thames Boat Chase (Tracks 2 + 3)

3. The World Is Not Enough

4. Access Denied

5. M's Confession

6. Welcome to Azerbaijan (renaming of Track 6 - this is an alternate version with extra vocals)

7. Checking the Survey Lines / Ice Bandits (Snow Business + Track 8)

8. Casino

9. Elektra's Theme

10. Body Double (Track 10 - this is an alternate version with more techno stuff)

11. Kazakhstan

12. Going Down / The Bunker

13. Pipeline

14. Remember Pleasure

15. Caviar Factory

16. Torture Queen

17. I Never Miss

18. Submarine

19. Christmas in Turkey

20. Only Myself to Blame

21. End Credits (clean DVD rip)

DAD:

1. Gunbarrel and On the Beach (mix in "Surf's Up" at, from memory, about 0:22)

2. Hovercraft Chase

3. Die Another Day Main Title

4. Some Kind of Hero?

5. Kiss of Life (website)

Thanks Rob. Is the website version of Kiss of Life different from the OST?

Could I get a copy of the TWINE End Credits and Welcome to Azerbaijan from you?

What program do you use to edit the tracks together?

Kiss of Life isn't on the album is it? Unless you mean the bootleg.

"Welcome to Azerbaijan" is just a renaming of track 6 - the film version is unreleased.

I'll send you the TWINE end credits. I use Adobe Audition to edit the tracks - but since there is no fading or mixing involved, you can use just about anything - even Windows Sound Recorder ROTFLMAO .

Three corrections/suggestions to The Living Daylights list:

"Where Has Everybody Gone?" should go before "Necros Attacks", since there is no appearance of it where the liner notes suggested.

The second half (1:20-End) of "Approaching Kara" is meant to go after "Bond Meets Kara" - it is the music from the scene where Kara goes back to fetch her cello.

"Into Vienna" is an alternate, and since the film version is unreleased, should probably go in its place, between tracks 4 and 15.

In other words, the list should go:

13. Exercise at Gibraltar

1. The Living Daylights - Main Title

3. The Sniper Was A Woman

6. Koskov Escapes

7. Where Has Everybody Gone?

2. Necros Attacks

14a. Kara Is Arrested (Approaching Kara 0:00-1:20)

5. Kara Meets Bond

14b. Retrieving the Cello (Approaching Kara 1:20-End)

4. Ice Chase

8. Into Vienna (alternate)

15. Murder at the Fair

16. "Assassin" and Drugged

17. Airbase Jailbreak

10. Mujahadin and Opium

18. Afghanistan Plan

9. Hercules Takes Off

11. Inflight Fight

19. Air Bond

20. Final Confrontation

12. If There Was A Man

21. Alternate End Titles

Several times, yes.

The point is that is doesn't appear at all where the liner notes suggest - between "Necros Attacks" and "Approaching Kara". It does, however, appear several times before "Necros Attacks" (after "Koskov Escapes").

If you want to know, it appears four times before Necros Attacks, three times before "Murder at the Fair" and once before "Inflight Fight".

I know this was posted nearly a year ago, but I only just noticed it (I know its completely off topic):

There is music on the Return of the Jedi SE album that was composed for a scene dropped from the film.

What scene is this?

Track 2: Force bond Conversation between Vader and Luke. And Luke giving instruction to R2 i think. All just before the 1st appearance of the droids in the movie (and after Darth vader leaves Jerjerrod with a neccesity of new underwear)

I have a question

In YOLT, when Bond is pursued in Little Nellie, there is a reprise of James Bond theme not on the CD. I fear it is the Monty Norman cue and it is tracked?

The Dr. No recording of the Bond Theme was tracked in From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majestys Secret Service and Diamonds Are Forever.

And it sticks out like a sore thumb in all those films....

Correction: It was only tracked into certain prints of Thunderball. I have the widescreen LD of the movie that uses the end titles Barry composed for Thunderball instead of the tracked in Bond theme.

You may regret you just said that.

This is how the Bond theme was manhandled into the "Little Nellie" sequence:

Track 15 (0:00-3:15)

+ DN James Bond Theme (0:00-0:03)

DN James Bond Theme (0:07-0:20)

DN James Bond Theme (0:34-0:54)

DN James Bond Theme (0:20-0:34)

DN James Bond Theme (0:40-1:18)

DN James Bond Theme (0:40-1:21)

DN James Bond Theme (0:34-0:40)

DN James Bond Theme (1:34-1:50)

I haven't checked it - but I think you get the picture.

14. The Golden Horn (unused, for a deleted scene)

Track 4

15. Meeting in St. Sophia

Track 3

Can't remember why, but I put Golden Horn after Meeting in St Sophia...

Well - it's quite a long story - the cue was written for a scene where Kerim shoots that guy (who Grant kills in the Mosque) - but then they (the filmmakers) found out that that character died twice, so they got rid of the quick-on-the-draw contest, which would have gone before the meeting in St. Sophia Mosque. The cue was going to be used as source music for that scene.

I'm not editing any cue.As long as they are in approximate order(opening cues, middle of the film cues and climactic battle cues).Where does the 007 cue go?

It's not in the film - I think it's an album arrangement (because there wasn't much - if any - of the underwater music on the original release).

This is how I used to program it (before I edited it):

13 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 14 - 7 - 6 - 9 - 10 - 15 - 8 - 16 - 11 - 17 - 12

(I don't like the mono Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang )
