The Chronological Film Score Thread

Wow, I didn't know there was that much unreleased Elfman music from Spidey 2. A lot of it is relatively short cues, true, but there are tracks like "The Goblin Returns" that's only 1:36 on the CD yet is listed as being 2:30 on the cue sheet. Now I've really got a jonesin' for a promo of this...

It's to bad a promo for this hasn't been leaked like one for the first score but I'm sure it's understandable since Elfman wants nothing to do with the Spider-Man stuff any more.

That or Efman could also have leaked the score himself to fu** the people who angered him. So they cannot make profit from his unused score in the future.

Is anyone familiar enough with "The Man in the Iron Mask" to give a chrono order, if it's not already (I suspect not, but I don't know the film well enough).

Thanks.

But a lot of promos are. And a lot of bootlegs are released pretending to be promos, just to confuse things.

This is true. A lot of the real promos (ones with excellent quality sound) are leaked from the composers themselves most of the time. Just like with the Matrix scores (or all of Davis's scores for that fact), Don Davis gave those out to friends and family (which of course ended up on the internet) and John Ottman of course for the unreleased cues from X-Men 2.

A lot of the composers don't mind handing out their music as 'promotional' material.

Update on Superman Returns - the division between "Little Secrets" and "Power of the Sun" lies around 1:01, and it is quite easy to edit them apart. Here's the chronological order of my album now.

1. Main Titles

2. Tell Me Everything

3. Memories

4. Rough Flight

5. Supermania (unreleased music from Stefancos)

6. Little Secrets

7. You're Not One of Them

8. Kitty Decoy (unreleased music from Stefancos)

9. Bank Job

10. How Could You Leave Us

11. Not Like the Train Set

12. So Long Superman

13. The People You Care For

14. Power of the Sun

15. Saving the World

16. In the Hands of Mortals

17. I Wanted You To Know

18. Reprise/Fly Away (edited to include full Superman March)

I'm not positive on the order of the unreleased music. Anybody want to confirm?

There is a promo of Christopher Young's Spider-Man 2 music floating around. That I can confirm.

4. The Morning Report 01:36

5. Uncle Scar / Simba and Nala 03:58

7. The Elephant Graveyard 04:46

8. Kings of the Past 02:15

9. Be Prepared 03:40

10. ... To Die for 00:48

11. Stampede 03:23

12. Mufasa's Death / Simba's Escape 03:25

13. Scar Takes over 01:39

14. Simba Awakens 00:31

15. Hakuna Matata 03:33

16. A Bone to Pick 01:08

17. Under the Stars / Simba Alive 02:45

18. Reunion 04:15

19. Can You Feel the Love Tonight? 02:57

20. Trouble in Paradise 04:45

21. He Lives in You 03:05

22. This Land 02:28

23. The Return / The Battle / King of Pride Rock 11:40

Besides resampling the playback rate, some cues also have some silences within them that need to be edited out.

Actually that is a tad out of order. "Xavier Escapes" is from a deleted scene and it should go before "Where Is Everyone?". Just as an FYI.

Also if I were you I wouldn't include the edited album versions of "Sneaky Mystique" and "Rogue Earns Her Wings". I have no clue why people include edited cues from the OST in a 2-CD set like this...

They're edited? I've never really listened close enough to know. I've only heard the whole boot a couple of times. (I'm not to crazy about portions of it, especially some of the action scoring.) Thanks for the heads up.

Yes they're edited. If you compare the two versions you'll be able to tell. I think the full film versions for both cues a minute longer than the album versions. You're welcome by the way. :)

How about James Newton Howard's The Prince of Tides?

Also, Gerhardt's recording of Kings Row, the CD with two tracks, LP-style... where are the breaks between cues? They might be listed on the original LP, but not the CD.

Two cues for Home Alone actually need to be switched... here is how the score should go with just the score only.

01- The House

02- Holiday Flight

03- Making The Plane

04- Man Of The House

05- Follow That Kid

06- Scammed By A Kindergartner

07- Somewhere In My Memory

08- Setting The Trap

09- Attack On The House

10- Mom Returns - Finale

11- End Credits

12- Home Alone Main Title (Suite)

13- Star Of Bethlehem (Suite)

"Home Run" was one of my favorite cues in the film! It comes right after "Rough Flight", when Superman saves the shuttle from crashing into the staduim. Anyway to get this in MP3 format?

Interesting. I agree about where Home Run goes, but I'm at a loss about "Who To Save" ... though it's title leads me to believe it would precede Bank Job.

These seem to be snippets of longer cues. I captured them and will mix them in where I think they should go. However, it would be nice to have the full cues (naturally).

Does anyone know a sequence for Pirates of the Caribbean?

1. Drop in toilet

2. Flush

:)

Ha! Very funny!!!

Anyhow... is the Fifth Element in chrono order? I don't think so, all I can figure out as far as sequencing goes is 8,9,12,6. And that's it.

Does anyone know the arrangement for Batman Forever, or is it already chronological?

I second this request. I just got the score and I'm almost 100% positive it's not in chronological order. I don't have access to a copy of the movie, and it hasn't been on lately. Can anyone check this out?

For anybody interested, I followed Stefancos and Cerrabore's leads on Superman Returns, and embellished it further. I normalized the volume on the two "older" missing tracks. I captured the two "newer" ones listed above. I went ahead and split Little Secrets and Power of the Sun in two, and I extended the finale with the full march from the opening credits.

Anybody interested in these files may go to:

Meanwhile, this is my final track order. Despite what I read elsewhere, I think tracks 8 and 9 below are in the right place now.

02 - Tell Me Everything

03 - Memories

04 - Rough Flight

05 - Home Run +

06 - Supermania +

I'm working on it. The first three cues are in order, I think.

Working up re-ordering the Temple of Doom. Would the correct order be:

1, 2, 6, 4, 3, 8, 7, 5, 9, 10, 11

Do any cues need to be split up?

Edit: Never mind. I found the Cue sheet. Looks like I got the order right for the most part. Seeing as how "Temple of Doom" replaces Mola Ram and The Ceremony, it works best where placed, even if it is technically something out of bounds.

Thanks for posting that Bondo. Ender asks the question that was in my mind when I assembled the order. Perhaps the order of the scenes was changed near the end of post production, but in the film itself, I'm fairly sure that "How Could You Leave Us" came before "Bank Job." I tried a few different orders and this made the most sense to me based on what I remember from the theater.

The former accompanies Supes and Lois meeting on the rooftop of the Daily Planet and flying around Metropolis (variations on Williams' love theme included). After this scene came the crime fighting montage, starting with the Superman hovering above Earth listening to all the different cries for help, leading straight into the Bank Job. I wasn't sure if "Who to Save" accompanied the "hover scene" or if it had to do with the decision to save Lois or Metropolis. The cue sheet must indicate the latter so I'll go with that. As for "How Could You Leave Us" I'm fairly sure that it ended up before "Bank Job" in the final edit.

I'll triple-check on Nov. 28th of course. ROTFLMAO

Could you re-post the link to the full cue sheet? Thanks.

Okeydokey, I haven't checked it against the film, but when I found the complete score, I figured it was in the original order (like the X-Men 2 promo). The tracklist is from the 2CD complete boot

Update on the resequenced Batman Forever: BF is a musical headache to figure out; Not as bad as say AOTC, but getting there. With that in mind, this is what I could figure out so far.

1. Main Title and Fanfare

2. Perpetuum Mobile

3. The Perils of Gotham

4. Wayne Enterprises – Edward Nygma

The first part of Track 6, from the beginning until 59.5160. You will probably want to fade it out. The length should be somewhere around :59 to 1:00.

5. Descent

This is Track 9 on the OST.

6. Chase Noir

Track 4 on the OST.

7. Caffeine’ll Kill Ya!

2:2.92 to 2.6.126 of Track 6, with fades on both sides. However, it’s such a small cue, you may as well skip it. There was a cymbal crash added into the film, so if you want to… and you should definitely add some silence to the end. Like, 1.5 seconds. So it should end up somewhere around 4.5 seconds.

8. Brain Drain

2:30.65 to 4:10.90 of Track 6. At least I think it is. Someone with sharper ears might disagree. Again, another fade out.

9. Under The Top

There’s a piece of Track 6 that goes in here somewhere, but from what I remember the cue was tracked to death in this scene.

10. The Pull of Regret

11. Fledermausmarchmusik

Track 5 on the OST.

12. Gotham City Boogie

They tracked in a piece of Perpetuum Mobile into the first part of this cue, but I tried to recreate that and it just didn’t work.

13. Birth of the Riddler

Track 6, 4:10.9 to 5:06.087. Again, you’ll need to fade it out.

14. Two Face’s Hideout

Fairly easy. Track 16, 1:16.10 to the end. There’s a bit after that but it’s either tracked music from earlier or previously unreleased altogether.

15. Robbing The Casino

Track 6, 59.5160 to 1:36.450. There’s tracked music from either Track 2 or 10 preceding this, but it’s tracked so there’s not much of a point.

16. The Box

Basically the first 31 or so seconds of Two-Face Three Step and the last 55 or so seconds of Nygma Variations.

Sorry I'm not more helpful at the moment.

Does anybody know how to sequence Rocky or Rocky II?
