The Custom Covers Thread

Recommended Posts

Well, here is my contribution to the show: BTTF II & III - these go into a 2cd slimline jewel case.

Enjoy!

Jamesyboy - Magicwand and erasers - it's all about the pen tool baby!

As a bonus, here are some Williams covers that fit in a 3cd slimline jewel case:

Actually, it's all about layer masks, the brush tool, the polygonal lasso tool, and the smudge tool. With those, you can mask just about anything with some patience and skill.

As someone who uses Photoshop professionally....WOW talk about going around your elbow to get to your nose.

All you need is the "PEN TOOL" and occasionally the "QUICK MASK" tool.

I can mask about most objects within 2 minutes with those two tools. The other stuff you mention are only really needed when you're working with really difficult material...or working at really high resolution where you need to clean up a lot of things that would be noticed. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

Wow, I can't believe some of the skills you guys have...

Some of you may have picked up the soundtrack to "A Christmas Story" from this Site

As you can see, their cover is dreadful, but the CD content is great. Here are my custom covers.

Oooh, Janbing, you made those neat covers then?

I had to edits yours from KOTOR II because my tracklist was different.

Would it be possible for you to make one with my tracklist if i write the tracklist?

Sorry, I don't have the raw Photoshop-file anymore... I think.

Has anybody done a cover for Far and Away? I believe our own Luke Skywalker had one... It's in the chronological score thread but it's low quality.

By the way, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, no one an alternate cover?

Nick,

I think I did a google searching for KOTOR artwork at the time I did those. I might go back and redo the covers again, particularly the trays since I did those over a year ago.

I managed to condense the complete score for AVPR into one disc and here's my artwork for it.

Nice work on the Quantum covers Charlie. I really like the picture choices (especially the back one).

Indeed - I have to say that I think these are better than the OST covers....

I am not sure if I should mention this, but I think you forgot an "a" in "David Slonaker".

Meh, I'm not going to go back and redo the whole inside cover just for one lousy typo.

Edit: I may redo my AVPR covers. Jamesyboy, where did you find the one for the tray?

Okay I revised my AVPR covers. I realized I typoed Twentieth wrong and I 'borrowed' (call it inspiration if you will) the picture for the tray for mine from James, since I really prefer it to the one I did. I hope you don't mind James. ;)

The reason why this doesn't have an inside tray is, because I have made the decision that single disc set scores don't get an inside tray picture (it would save up on printing too). The inside trays pictures are only reserved for 2-CD sets.

I also changed the inside cover pic as I always liked that one instead of the unmasked Predator. I also found the cover in 'wallpaper' form that didn't have the white 'scratch' down the middle of it.

P.S. You may have to refresh the pics to see the new ones, or clear out your temp files.

Thanks for the comments on the Quantum cover, folks. Here is The Omen (expanded).

Nice.

Sometimes simplicity says it all.

Has anyone done one for ALIEN? I'd like to see that.

I did mention a few pages ago whether or not anyone has had, or would like, a go at a set of Alien covers, now that we have excellent releases of all 2 of them and half-decent renditions of the others...there were no takers at the time, but here's hoping someone has a go sometime....

Greg - who has the ideas, but not the first clue of how to put them on paper....

Woah, that Alien 3 cover looked pretty cool, Charlie! I would love to see what you would come up with the first two Alien scores (note that the fourth film is omitted)!

Thanks Clark. I am going to have a go this weekend.

Wait, there was a fourth Alien movie?

Ok, it's not alien, but I added a couple of things to my Star Trek album and wanted to make a cover for them. Because I like the actual cover so much, and cause I'm kind of bored of doing things the same, I decided to take a different way and actually made a faux LP cover with a gatefold cover, scaled to a CD. Pictures aren't very good though.

This is really great idea !!!

Do you have the track listing and graphic files you created for this?

I was thinking of assembling some of the additional Trailer and available source cues to make a more rounded soundtrack, and your work would make a great template.

Thanks!

This is just the basic artwork in a smaller format:

Here are the photoshop files. I was a bit lazy on the Varese logo on the back, so that may be one of the first things you redo.

Awesome, thanks !!!

Has anyone got the title card edit of Enterprising Young Men?

If not, I'll have to try and recreate it from memory.
