Star Wars the force Unleashed Promo

I too am disappointed that a large portion of the music in the game is tracked from the saga - I'd have preferred more original stuff with new arrangements of old themes.

Well crap, maybe those reports we heard of two hours of original music was wrong. Maybe the 27 minute promo is all there is.

John- who still has Sam & Max Season 2 and Mass Effect 1-2 on his to get list

SMB3 is just not my favorite NES game, because I can't beat it. I used a P-wing to fly over 8-1, died, went back to before it, got pissed off, and shut it down. That was on the console before the emulators could save progress, so I haven't tried it since.

My preferred version of SMB3 is from Super Mario All-Stars on SNES, which features upgraded graphics and sound as well as a save feature. And I always saved a cloud for 8-1. ;)

Pansies. ;)

I grew up eating and breathing Super Mario Brothers 3 on the NES. I'd typically play all the way through and get to Dark Land with 30-50 lives and a full power up stash. Though I admit to frequently using a whistle to skip the end of Pipe Land.

 <-- *me after 5+ hours of game play*

You are referring to the levels with the unlimited amount of Piranha Plants and random Koopa Troopas, correct?

More or less. The Music Box, Jugem's Cloud, Starman and P-Wing items came in handy for those. And then if I died at the castle and the airship moved, and if I'd already been playing for a couple hours and didn't feel like tracking it down then I'd warp. You get the picture.

Was anyone able to obtain the Anchor item, BTW? That's one item I was never able to find.

Alright ,finally got to listen to it on my ipod .I'd say it's above current modern film music ,but above JW's Prequel scores?....no way, not by 10000000 miles

Since when did they start making more "Sam and Max" games?

Check out Telltale Games. Sam & Max is easily the best classic Lucasarts-style adventure since Lucasarts stopped making them. It's brilliant.

Also, if I recall, the anchor prevents the Airship from fleeing like a pansy.

In theory, I've never been able to figure out how to use it. You can't use it on the castle before going into the airship for the first time, and anytime after the level starts automatically whenever you move over it.

Anyone do a game rip yet? There's some good material in there, though most of what I heard throughout the game was, in fact, Williams material.

Not surprised at all by this, so I can't even groan. But there's two sides to this coin.

First of all, it'd be another Star Wars movie. We don't really need that. Anakin Skywalker's story has been told in six parts, let it rest. Even though this video game lays groundwork for Vader's motivations in The Empire Strikes Back (that's not really a spoiler, because everything, even the prequels, lays groundwork for everything that follows, by the virtue of cause and effect), it's told well enough that a movie is just an afterthought. It's a video game, it's a novelization, it's a toy line, it's a comic book line, so a movie was inevitable. And even though the video game has at least two possible endings, like just about every other Star Wars game with Jedi storylines (Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy, Kotor1, Kotor2, etc.), only one is considered canonical. The movie would simply hammer that ending home to a wider audience than those who will pick up the novelization.

The other side is that, as a movie based on a video game, it's a wonderful opportunity to make a good one. Super Mario Brothers was a miss, Mortal Kombat was iffy (though Brigitte Nielsen makes it fun), Doom was a fun action movie that just completely rewrote the video game "lore", but the Resident Evil and Tomb Raider movies were very popular (ok, those were two gun wielding hot chicks). Now they're making a Max Payne movie with flying badass angels. A TFU movie would be an instant gold mine.

It's still a bad idea. I'd rather just play the video game (still holding out till Christmas).

There are only 6 Star Wars movies. The rest are....something else.

Never thought I would be a Star Wars elitist, having spent so much of my life defending the prequels, but, when it comes to this (or Clone Wars), I have had enough.

I'd much rather have seen the Timothy Zahn "Heir to the Empire" trilogy turned into movies than The Force Unleashed.

But the time for that has come and gone, since Ford, Fisher, and Hamil are all too old to reprise their roles as action stars.

And re-casting classic characters using younger actors seems too corny. It's something JJ Abrams would do, though I hold out hope that turns out to be good.

After just listening to the Kotor 1 and Kotor 2 soundtracks in the last two days, I agree that Kotor 2 has the better music. I didn't think I'd like it while I was playing the games, but since I dragged each game out over weeks, I lost objectivity with the music of each installment. The main theme of Kotor 2 is better woven throughout that score. Though Kotor 1 does have its moments, like the Bastila and Malak music. These warrant relistens.

So now I just need to hear more of TFU to rank that. Though I don't think any SW video game will feature as great a theme as the one Clint Bajakian wrote for Kyle Katarn in the original Dark Forces. Though that score leaned heavily on re-orchestrating key sequences from Williams' originals, like Into the Trap and The Battle of Yavin.

This sounds very interesting and I'm looking forward to hearing this when I return home in a month.

Did anyone do any work on expanding the promo with the music from the actual game?

Could anyone answering please send me a PM as well?

With my slow Internet, it's hard to find any replies through all the dozens of pages here.

There is at least one other recording of Juno's theme in the game with a very different development. Unfortunately, the recording is fragmented among the music files and cannot be completed. There's also some music that's identical to "Juno Eclipse & Finale" except in a different key. This may be part of the alternative version.
