BLUMENKOHL 1,068
You know the drill...yes the movie sucks, but the score is definitely one of the better ones this year...So grade away...I give it a B+. Those who were turned off by Goblet of Fire's cold neutrality will like this one, as it is injected with quite a bit spirit. As for me personally, I love Goblet of Fire for that cold sinister quality. The Ra'Zac, Fortune Teller, and Battle for Varden tracks are quite amazing. And for your information...Thus far, the JWFAN.net community has rated:Lady in the Water by James Newton Howard A-X-Men: The Last Stand by John Powell B007: Casino Royale by David Arnold BThe Da Vinci Code by Hans Zimmer B-Apocalypto by James Horner CCharlotte's Webby Danny Elfman CSuperman Returns by John Ottman C-All the Kings Men by James Horner DPirates of the Caribbean - The Dead Man's Chest by Hans Zimmer F
Morlock 11
I've yet to make it through the whole CD. That theme got old very fast, and, let's face it, if you don't like the theme....there's not much else there. I sincerely miss the Doyle of the 90's, who wrote some of the greatest themes ever...Eragon sent me back running to 'The Honeymoon', 'Kissing in the Rain' and 'The Escape' & 'Papa', which are among my all time favorite cues. The old Doyle enthralled me; hell, his very first score was one of his best. Now he's brassy, blocky, and repetitive. It's clear he still has his musical skill, but the heart has gone out of his work. It's just... fanfare.
Morlock 11
The Honeymoon...now that´s a powehouse cue. All three of those cues (the last two are really connected) are powerhouse cues...Whenever I'm feeling down, I take a walk, listening to 'Kissing in The Rain' at full volume. It is so stunning, it gets to me every time.
