We're missing a lot of concerts. Searching for today's world premiere non-existent broadcast, I found out that some radios have broadcast last wednesday's Williams concert in Tanglewood, and will do the same next August 25.

Check this out: http://www.wmnr.org/Prog_Guide/2007/prog_aug2007.htm

They've got good quality stream.

Well anyways,we've accumulated good recordings of most of the PS children suite and PoA concert versions.

It would be nice to have a better sounding recording of 'Voldermort' and and one of 'The Sorcerer's Stone',and Diagon Alley with the bombastic ending

Well, esplanade concerts sound pretty bad. I'd love to go, but you're basically hearing it on AM radio over crappy speakers.

I tuned it for this concert on Wednesday, but the station wasn't airing it. I sent an inquiry about this to WCRB, and got this:

We don’t broadcast the Hatch Shell concerts….but we DO broadcast the BSO & Pops at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood.

So I guess this was some kind of misunderstanding. But they should be broadcasting the Tanglewood concert this Saturday, which also has a Harry Potter suite, as will WMNR as reported on the main page.

I've made a more thorough research, and WMNR states that "Live Tanglewood broadcasts cannot be heard on the internet..".

So WCRB is our only hope now for people not in Boston.

It's a grand suite. It covers actually the whole 2nd part of the concert.

Hedwig's Theme

Aunt Marge's Waltz

Diagon Alley

The Knight Bus

Nimbus 2000

Quidditch

Fawkes the Phoenix

The Chamber of Secrets

A Bridge to the Past

Harry's Wondrous World

Only thing I'm afraid of is this "and a Grand Suite from "Harry Potter" accompanied by a special montage from the Potter films." that might suggest disturbing sound F/X along with the music...

Anyway, I hope this gets broadcast tonight!

Whoa, that's a lotta Potta'. Although "Double Trouble" is conspicuously missing, and it's still disappointing to see "Buckbeak's Flight" omitted from these programs. Still, no complaints....I'm counting on WCRB, since the guy stated in the e-mail that they broadcast the Tanglewood shows.

They better do it, because I cancelled my plans for tonight only to record this.

The concert version of "A Window to the Past."

Right now the Prague recording of this piece can be considered the gold standard.I can't find any flaws it.

I'm interested in Diagon alley,if it's the full version with orchestral ending

Awesome concert! It's always great to hear him live (last time I did was in the Soundings premiere back in 2003...). Some good performances of the BPO.

We finally got some themes conducted by John Williams himself (Chamber of Secrets and Fawkes, prominently).

I recorded it, flawless except one small "beep" in the end of the first theme of Lean's film Blithe Spirit. Did you guys get to record it well?

Yay! it's the version of Diagon Alley I wanted. One less concert version to hunt down.

also good versions of Quidditch,Nimbus 2000 and Bridge to the Past

I am still not clear on how you recorded this or if this Williams conducting.

Awesome concert indeed. And it more or less counts as my first. Williams or otherwise.

Wow.

And also, call me crazy, but while listening I threw together a cover for scissorhands' recording for my iTunes:

Nice cover!

The Harry Potter Suite was great...I actually thought the narration was pretty good and tied the pieces together well. I'd never heard that concert version of "Aunt Marge's Waltz" before....I liked the added brass toward the end and the whistle during the climax. Thanks, Peio!

Still sounds very compressed.I can't wait for internet radio stations to bump the bitrate of their broadcasts.Do they assume were all on still on dial up?
