Eric_JWFAN 11
The other day I rode "Soarin" at Epcot Center, and just found out it was scored by Jerry Goldsmith (always cool to make a JW or JG discovery). It's basically just a short loop of string music but very nicely written. It was also cool to hear some great scores during the queue including Hook, the Rocketeer, Contact, The Boy Who Could Fly, and other scores relating to flight. One of the most exhilirating ride experiences ever by the way.
pixie_twinkle 48
Although I've never ridden the ride (I've never even been to Disneyland/world/place) I know and love the piece. A very kind member of JWFan showed me where to get an audio-file of the music back in October 2007. It may even be on i-tunes.
Trent Hoyt 13
I just got back from Disney World the other day. That place never gets old, that was my 6th visit. I remember the first time I got off the ride I said, "The Mountain from Star Trek V would have sounded perfect on that ride." I went home and did the research and sure enough it was Goldsmith. Its the only ride that gets applause every time I go on it.
Marian Schedenig 8,237
The original composition is nice, but the synths are a bit... odd. The concert version has no synths and a little more excitement, it's wonderful.
indy4 155
Both the ride and the music are phenominal. I have the "The Music of California Adventures" CD, and "Soarin'" is pretty much the only track I listen to.
Koray Savas 2,251
Which ride is Soarin again? Is that the one where you go inside the huge Epcot ball?
indy4 155
I've never been to Disney World, so I wouldn't know, but the one at California Adventures is the "Soaring Over California" ride, where you go in
Trent Hoyt 13
The ride in the huge ball is called Spaceship Earth. Soarin is located in "The Land." The ride is basically a hang gliding trip over California. Its breathtaking though, very popular ride.
Ray Barnsbury 8
Definitely a great piece of music. The ride's a lot of fun too, one of the better recent WDW rides (though it came from California).
Koray Savas 2,251
I don't think I've been on that one! I don't know how though. Maybe I have, it's been awhile since I've been to Disney World.
Trent Hoyt 13
It debuted at Disney World in 2004 so it is still fairly new there.

Ollie 1,061
It's a nice piece of music but not as great as everyone makes it out to be.
Ray Barnsbury 8
Experiencing it on the ride probably makes a big difference, similiar to hearing a score in the film it was written for.

Trent Hoyt 13
I actually forgot to ride that one this time. I was there for 9 days and I still didnt get to do everything that I had planned. Oh well, there is always next year. The piece is better when you first experience it on the ride. It takes me back to Disney and Epcot every time I hear it. I love it. Ray Barnsbury 8
I once had a good quality recording of the Soarin' queue loop, but I think I ended up getting rid of it because it was such a large file and I didn't think I'd ever sit down and listen to the whole thing. Shucks.
