I can't remember - i've been visiting these boards since before the mists of time.

I was probably doing a search on all things Williams (pre-google days) and perchanced onto this place.....for better or worse!

Seconded. ;) I visited this page and board for the first time back in 2000, I think, and I really don't remember how I found it.

John Williams related things is probably the first thing I looked for using the internet back in 1999

Posted

No recollection. It's as if the board always existed....inside me, somehow....

Posted

I found it through the old Yahoo John Williams pages - ahhh memories! Also that site with the Stephen J Sansweet quote re Star Wars music being the Jewel in the Crown of the saga, what was that called?

Posted

I don't remember, I've been visiting this site since the beginning, back in 1999.

I've been a member of the various sites since 1996.

I used to visit an old site which no longer exists. I think it was called The John Williams Web Pages, but I can't remember for sure. Anyway, there was a link there to this site and I followed it. From that point I used to check jwfan every day for news about releases, and to peruse the forums. I gradually came to realise there were some real characters posting here, and so after a couple of years when I had a question of my own I joined the community. I can't even remember the question I asked but I think it was about the scarcity of John Williams 60s scores on vinyl. Funny thing is that since that original post back in 2003 or so most of those 60s vinyl scores have been released on CD!

I put John Williams in the search engine and looked at many sites. John Williams, not published by him probably, but either by a fan or an agent and this site. John Williams Fan Network. This site I really like because I can post messages to my John Williams Fans, I can post things under General Discussion, but most of the things I talk about already have been talked about. Before coming to this site I didnt even know girls liked John Williams music. I thought guys were the only ones that liked John Williams music. I think if I remember correctly I did the search in either 2000 or 2001. Cant remember that well.

I can't say for sure, but it was probably through the music board at TheForce.Net's Jedi Council Forums.

Man... that was so long ago...

Same here. I've been visiting this site for a looooong time, although I registered only in 2004.

Posted

Came here a few years ago to look at the Bond sequencing guides. Registered but never came back for months. When I finally came back though, I haven't left (sans for computer problems which I had during the Fall).

Posted

I can't remember. Just one day it was there and has since never left.

I can't remember which I found first: the old incarnation of JWFan circa early 2000 or Elvisjones' TPM site, but I do know I linked from one to the other. Obviously I was looking for unreleased TPM music.

Don't remember how I found it excactly, but my first post was a "petiton" type thing to get Family Plot released. I had no intention of staying, but for whatever reason...I did. Fait smiled upon the deprived JWFans on August 6th, 2007.

No idea. First joined in 2004 but what drew me to the place I have no idea.

I actually remember I was just thinking before while I was in the library about how I first came to the boards. When I actually replied to the topic earlier the thought completely left my mind. Its weird how when you think of something it becomes true.

I just found it in my bookmarks.

I don't have it bookmarked.

You mean you type in the address each time?

Posted

Yes. Much quicker, particularly with autocompletion. The only site I regularly visit and still have in my bookmarks is the Java API doc, because I can never remember the URL (and Sun keeps changing the address and site navigation every few weeks it seems).

Posted

It's not quicker if you have a bookmark toolbar.

Its one of the few sites for me that is always in my history.

Posted

this site,

It called to me.

Posted

Yes, it is very handy for the lazy one inside of me. Though JWFan is almost always on my history, so all I need to type in the adress bar is 'jw.'

Posted

I was looking for the JPIII promo. And then i realised there was an AI promo.

The rest is history :nopity:

Probably Googled John Williams. It was somewhere in the fall of 2001.

Posted

I found it back in 2003 but didn't bother to register. Then found it again in 2006 and started posting. Probably Yahoo...

Posted

I also used Google. For quite some time, I just read the posts, and it was not until last year when I bought tickets to see JW in Boston for the first time that I actually began posting. I fall into quiet periods every once in a while when I don't post, but lately, I feel my output of posts has increased.

Posted

I had always liked JW but had only recently started collecting CD's and was looking for an authoritative discography.....and received a warm welcome!

Here's the whole story of my film music life, abridged of course.

Myspace -> Friended fake JW on Myspace -> Friended real person behind fake site -> New friend gave me some scores, I gave him some scores -> Friend introduced me to another guy -> He gave me some scores, I gave him some scores -> We all traded scores together! -> Second friend gave me JWFan link -> I registered -> Only used Trading Board for about a year -> Expanded my collection big time -> Moved onto the regular Forum!

...and the rest is history...

Jesus H. that is some collection!

To most people like me, we wouldn't be offering trade but a charity hand-out instead. lol

Posted

I normally hand out scores to those who ask. The only person I do an organized trade with is a nice guy I became friends with through this site. We do HUGE trades every few months. HUGE = 50+ scores per trade. If someone comes along asking for 1 score, or only a few, I'll just give it to him/her without compensation.

Oh, and I'm glad you like my collection :D
