Their car has broken down just outside Baghdad and they're both lost. Is she pregnant in that photo? Black can be very deceiving.

Just about the most boring album cover I've seen in a while actually...

I'm not a fan of CR, but then I'm not a David Arnold fan at all. He's too brassy and brash for me. I'll give this one a chance, but my hopes aren't that high.

I saw the trailer last week, and while overall it was fairly impressive, it had one of those 100% CG shots with 2 guys fighting each other that just looks lame and takes me out of the film. Why can't they do these things for real.

Huh?

Hm, I wasn't aware there was a second trailer out yet. I'll have a look.

EDIT: Yes, I see what you mean. Still, judging by the teaser, the high-wire acrobatics that follow were mostly performed practically. Those guys spinning on the ropes sure looks damn real.

Yeah, it was supposed to be about the score. I kinda steered it off course with the CG criticism, my fault.

Scores like this generally invoke a love-hate feeling for me. Either I'll give it a listen and it'll just be generic Arnold, or I'll find some true magic somewhere inside it and it will click. That's what unexpectedly happened with Hancock.

I hadn't seen the teaser and yeah, it all looks pretty damn cool from that. The rope spinning is definitely stunt guys I'm sure... just that one shot in the trailer.

I didn't think that shot looked bad at all to be honest.

I'm counting on more lush Barry-esque moments.

Right, that's exactly what this score needs... :P

Second.

Awesome cover art.

I would have preferred a Struzan.

I hope you're also being sarcastic.

I'm confused. You DON'T like your Bond music to have Barryesque lushness...?

It worked as Barry-esque. But it worked almost as a parody. It was so over the top in it's romanticism, that it tipped me off by it's obviousness about the third act twist. It was too romantic to be believed.

Eh, you could already tell from the structure of the film that a twist was coming.

The music did not help. In general, too much time was spent on that false ending.

The Barryesque love theme did not work all that well in Casino Royale.

What would you have preferred? Some unmotivated piano tingling?

Eh, you could already tell from the structure of the film that a twist was coming.

You could tell also if you've read the book 60 years ago ...

The Vesper- twist was just too blown up and action- ated to be more effective.

Imagine the scene at the beach, Bond telling Vesper he loved her, Bond returns to the house in the evening, finding her dead in her room with a farewell letter, then the scene with White.

That would be true to the novel and James Bond, just like the rest of the film.

That certainly would not have worked for the film.

What was there didn't work for me. So sue me.

Yes? Seems to me like that would have been an awesome anticlimatic finale instead of the current finale that tries to be climatic but fails.

Why don't you offer an alternative yourself instead of b*tching?

Right.

Again, what would you prefer?

You know, you get very anal very quickly when people disagree with you...if I had a specific idea about what I would have liked it to be, I would have mentioned it.
