What do you want the score to Tin Tin to sound like?

Me, I want it to be (just a little) jazzy, with a wealth of new themes. A new theme for most of the major characters?

So, it should be a mixture of CMIYC, Raiders, and Harry Potter.

Seeing as Thomas Newman will eventually end up doing the score, I'm looking forward to hearing something dark, sinister and funny.....like his SIX FEET UNDER main theme.

Something like John Addison's main theme from Torn Curtain. I don't know why.

OF course, I'd rather JW ignores the book and pulls out something totally new, but that's the tune I always imagine when I think of the upcomign score.

Not like Munich, not like MOAG, not like KOTCS, how about a mid 70's to mid 80's kind of sound.

I'd like it to sound like something I'd be interested in listening to or buying. Which aside from Indy 4, there haven't been any Williams scores like that for me since the third Harry Potter.

You mean a mixture of Missouri Breaks and Heartbeeps?

Since the score is still 2 years away this really is a most speculative thread.

Maybe for America he'll have a different theme than for Europeans.

Tin Tin, tin tin, tin tin, tintin, tintin, not Rintin,buttintin,tintin,tintin.....

I dunno what the movie is gonna be like. But for a standalone listening experience, I'd certainly appreciate a throwback to the vintage sound that JW had in the late 70s and early 80s.

It'll probably be something along the lines of The Terminal and Catch Me If You Can with a splash of The Accidental Tourist.

 Isn't that like too much comedy and no action?

I love his theme to Murder, She Wrote! Maybe it'll be something like this! :)

This is why you always will be disappointed by the Williams of 2000's. Always!

I personally think the score to Munich was a very good and suitable score. Much more successful in its execution than KotCS was, indeed Munich is the superior score of the two.

Two VERY different kinds of scores, but I agree.

but I haven't been disappointed by all of Williams 2000 output.

I liked or loved A.I., HPSS, HPCOS, CMIYC, HPPOA, WOTW upon their releases.

I think it's time to leave such matters to younger men.

Ramin Djawadi, Geoff Zanelli and Steve Jablonsky?

Something good that is appropriate for the material.

So you basically want something good that is appropriate for the material?

Go procreate.

Once again, you have to bring fornication into it. My god you need a shag.

Adventurous, but with a certain elegance.

Yes, I agree.

Adventurous, elegant, optimistic, fun(ny), suspenseful, magic.

In fact, these adjectives describe Harry Potter and Raiders quite well.

What exactly is your point?

I just hope it won't sound like generic John Williams music from the 2000's, like so much of Harry Potter, the Prequels, WOTW, etc...etc...

Harry Potter and Raiders don't sound generic to me. Do you beg to differ?

I want the score to Tin Tin to be written in the same spirit. Not a rehash of those scores.

Not at all. Why would you even suggest such a thing?

So your fascination with Ryan Shore continues Hitch :) Has he written anything good recently?

Oh and my wish is that JW composes a great action adventure score with noirish underpinnings if the plot of the film allows.

I have no expectations for the score, and I am sure Williams will write a perfectly appropriate score for the film, as usual. I'm not expecting anything in particular except that he will follow the same approach to scoring a film as he always has.

This is not my recollection... But I am too lazy to search back to check.

I'm not making fun you understand, but would you say you're easily pleased in general?

When music is written in a certain vein, basically, the vein that John Williams writes, I am somewhat easily pleased. I do have my likes and dislikes when it comes to certain compositional techniques that Williams employs, but I don't like to speak with authority on the matter, because it is just his preference versus mine, and as a composer I respect differences in sensibility.

I can be more outspoken about other types of music that I find generally bankrupt in execution, but when it comes to music like Williams' (or a number of other great composers) there's so much more to enjoy about each new piece than there is to complain about.

your recollection is wrong. I hated AI the movie but I liked the score upon release, but alas I grew tired of it. I liked all the rest that I mentioned too.
