Quintus 6,503 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 If cocktails count as drugs then he'll yeah.
John Crichton 4 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Pre-scoring session steroid testing should be mandatory.
Ollie 1,375 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I know, Williams damn near rip my arm from its socket when he shook my hand.I think I also heard talk of a post concert bong.
publicist 4,650 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 You think a piece like NEPTUNE'S BAR came to Williams by accident?
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 He was definitely tripping when he wrote that one!
Wojo 2,458 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 They all end up like Syd Barrett.Yea, if they live longer than 27. That's the cutoff.
Naïve Old Fart 13,032 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Of course they use them: they are called "talent", and "imagination".
Wojo 2,458 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Yes, well the last time someone got high off "imagination," Robin Williams wiped blue goo out of his eyes and Gene Wilder popped a coronary.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I thought the thread title meant if composers use software to enhance the performance ...
OneBuckFilms 517 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I don't think Composers use performance enhancing drugs, but I'd imagine some listeners may be using film scores as drug enhancing performances
Hlao-roo 390 Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 I'm surprised no one here actually ventured a serious answer. Informal polls have indicated widespread use of psychostimulants (beyond caffeine) and beta blockers in academia. Given the pressures of the modern film scoring scene, it's likely some composers resort regularly to consuming cognitive enhancers. I'm just wondering how prevalent the practice is.
fommes 165 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Of course. It's especially prevalent in such closed filmmusic communities as Remote Control, where they can grow their own private stash unnoticed.

I'm sorry; was this meant to be serious?
