After hearing the following clips should be quickly realized why Spielberg puts it effusively. War Horse shows Williams on top form once more, with this album can be viewed as an absolutely remarkable contrast to program music for Tintin. What we hear a very ardent, dramatic, inviting you to dream, melancholy music rather à la The Patriot. This shift away from the light-footed, action-packed and cheeky way to score Tintin Spielberg War Horse may well also here, as it did in 2005 at the following words to motivate the publication of the soundtrack to Munich:"Each of these scores only had the composer in common. The compositions couldn’t be more diverse, and clearly illustrates what I have been saying for years in my liner notes, that John Williams is a master of disguise. (Steven Spielberg, 2005) "John Williams' score for War Horse (2011) appears likely on 22 November 2011 at Sony Music, and features 67 minutes from the finest from the pen of the legendary maestro. At this point, the Cinema Musica want a sincere thank you to Mr. Martin Korn, classical music label manager, speak of SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (Switzerland) GmbH.The mp3s can be downloaded directly off their website here:http://www.cinemamus...le_download/270http://www.cinemamus...le_download/271http://www.cinemamus...le_download/272http://www.cinemamus...le_download/273http://www.cinemamus...le_download/274http://www.cinemamus...le_download/275http://www.cinemamus...le_download/276http://www.cinemamus...le_download/277http://www.cinemamus...le_download/278http://www.cinemamus...le_download/279http://www.cinemamus...le_download/280http://www.cinemamus...le_download/281http://www.cinemamus...le_download/282http://www.cinemamus...le_download/283http://www.cinemamus...le_download/284http://www.cinemamus...le_download/285Out of respect to the people who are trying to avoid spoilers, please refer to the samples of tracks 12, 14, and 15 by their track number rather than their track title. Hedwig 5
Its intresting that there is piano in the track 'POST EDITED' because it could mean that "FilmComposer518" could have got it slightly wrong and the piano is at the end of the film, but just not in the credits. Love the sound of 'Plowing' though sounds like part of the trailer music which is just phenomenal! TownerFan 5,210
Holy mother... this looks more and more like a definitive masterpiece. Neimoidian 14
I guess most FSM board members won't share your enthusiasm. It's in many ways interesting to notice how large fraction of film music fans community actually depreciate Williams' (recent) efforts.

It's in many ways interesting to notice how large fraction of film music fans community actually depreciate Williams' (recent) efforts.I really don't know what more we could ask from Williams today. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but frankly I've had enough with the cynicism and nastiness on the FSM boards to the point I barely visit them anymore. There are quite a few smart people who post there, but their contributions are literally buried by a zillion of whiny nerd-y comments. It's not just the fact there's someone who doesn't like Williams' new efforts (I like constructive criticism and opinionated arguments), but most of the negative comments are just one-liners like "He's old and should retire", "He doesn't have it anymore", "He's a spent force", etc.

Muad'Dib 1,867
This sounds absolutely beautiful! Even if the samples aren't exactly well chosen, it still sounds pure Williams brilliance! Edit: Now that I think about, the action cues have a quite cool Spartacus-like feel. Not exactly reminiscent of that style, but they sound -at least to my uneducated ears- like gladiators fighting each other. For example, No Man's Land could fit quite nicely alongside Yared's Troy. Anyone else agree?

Another release date conundrum for all of us with Amazon once again presenting two different release dates for the European release. This score as I said is from the other end of the spectrum. Tintin is fast and busy and dense with a sense of fun and adventure. War Horse seems more spacious, lyric and dramatic, very emotional. It is a blessing to get these two in the same year. Jacck 23
I'm loving what I'm hearing. There's almost an Alan Menken-esque feel about the melodies. They're so hummable, flowing and natural. Combined with the English Vaughan Williams/Elgar influences creates a very majestic, sophisticated sound. It sounds like this score is going to have a lot to offer! gkgyver 1,647
Never, even in a million years, had I thought Williams could come up with such knockout scores for BOTH, Tintin and War Horse. Some of that music makes me shiver, and I don't even have the faintest clue what the film is about, except a horse. The Williams I can listen to from beginning to end is back! And I recently was able to put my finger on the point why exactly I adore both Tintin and War Horse indefinitely more than all the other scores. I feel like they don't treat the listener like an idiot.
