It’s a big weekend for composer John Williams. Not only is he conducting his annual concert at the Hollywood Bowl — “John Williams: Maestro of the Movies,” Friday and Saturday evenings with special guest narrator Julie Andrews — the Hollywood Museum is also opening a new exhibit featuring costumes, props, posters and photos from the blockbusters and classics for which he’s composed, including “Jurassic Park,” “Superman” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

So the exhibit is honoring movies he's composed, or JW himself? Seems to me they just chose some of the most successful blockbusters and happened to notice JW scored them all.

It's interesting that Dadigan, who is the president and founder of both the Hollywood Museum and the José Iturbi Foundation, is presenting the effort as a "collaboration."

I thought for a minute they're going to exhibit some pencil sketches of his scores, his batons that he used during his conducting sessions, the podium that he stood in, and most especially, the piano from which he played and wrote down all of his scores.

Also all the turtleneck sweaters that he used during his career.

Indeed. It would be far more exciting if there was anything from his early era. Pre-JAWS, at least.
