Henry B 51 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Major TPM update coming soon: No, not a new editing list, not yet. I admit that with the ever increasing number of games and other sources, I've lost track of this project. I would like to "reclaim" it, though only to provide my own input. Of course, others can and have taken it into their own hands, and that's fine with me. First, I'd like to summarize where we are at in terms of newer games (focused on for AOTC and ROTS music, but basically ignored as far as TPM goes) and provide a much more useful tutorial for beginning editors (to do this right, you need to know a lot more than how to crossfade!). I'd also like to clarify the legal terms to ensure that this thread and others like it are allowed to remain open. Obviously, no asking for game rips or edits publicly and all that. Actually, as we're on page 100, according to board policy this thread should be locked and a new one begun. That's what I'll do with the update.
Alex_B! 0 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Thank you for posting this, Cerrabore! You didn't miss anything I can think of, unless you'd like to add the main title with clean ending...
Henry B 51 Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 Thank you for posting this, Cerrabore! You didn't miss anything I can think of, unless you'd like to add the main title with clean ending...That's from TPM, which would be a LOOOOONG list. 8O
Alex_B! 0 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I thought someone said Bounty Hunter 151 was an alternate segment from Yoda Strikes Back...was that not true?
Henry B 51 Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 That depends what exactly "Yoda Strikes Back" is. I don't think the cue starts until the choir and brass come in for Yoda's lightsaber. This videogame piece seems to have a bass note where the choir and brass SHOULD start, meaning it's the end of "Confrontation with Count Dooku."
Alex_B! 0 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Looking over the list again I think you did miss one small segment...the music for Obi-Wan swimming, then climbing out of the water starts around 0:44 of mus_kashyyyk_droid_cave.mp3. I'm guessing that's 5M4 - Swimming, Droids and Yoda Farewell. Is the alternate Anakin's Dark Deeds an entire alternate take, or just a different mix of the same recorded elements?
Henry B 51 Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 Looking over the list again I think you did miss one small segment...the music for Obi-Wan swimming, then climbing out of the water starts around 0:44 of mus_kashyyyk_droid_cave.mp3. I'm guessing that's 5M4 - Swimming, Droids and Yoda Farewell.I skipped that because it's mixed with "Palpatine's TV Set." I don't consider that a clean source, much like a cue with sound effects. Is the alternate Anakin's Dark Deeds an entire alternate take, or just a different mix of the same recorded elements? Thanks, good point. I'll fix that.
fommes 161 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Thanks Cerrabore! By the way, does this change anything to your chronological 'expanded' ROTS list?
Alex_B! 0 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 But the Obi-wan leaving the water clip is sandwiched between the two Goodbye Old Friends segments you listed...aren't those parts also mixed with Palpy's TV Set?
Henry B 51 Posted June 28, 2005 Author Posted June 28, 2005 Sections of them are. I only listed the parts that are clean. Thanks Cerrabore! By the way, does this change anything to your chronological 'expanded' ROTS list?Yeah, there's a bit from "Goodbye Old Friend" that precedes "Going to Utapau" now. I'll post the updated cue list, or you can edit it right now - should be pretty self-explanatory.
King Mark 3,835 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I deleted the most of Palpatine's TV set voices and the swimming music .K.M.
fommes 161 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I'll post the updated cue list, or you can edit it right now - should be pretty self-explanatory.Please post the list anyhow Many thanks!
soundwave 0 Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I'm still trying to find out how to get the music from the video game files. If anyone can help, I need to know exactly how to get the music from:Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees (I have the Total Experience version and can't find the sound files anywhere. Could someone tell me exactly where they are and how to convert them to mp3.)Star Wars: Bounty HunterStar Wars: TPM game (for music in AOTC)I think that's about it. I've been trying to get this information for awhile and I can't find it anywhere on here besides someone saying to just download a converter, but I would like a step by step process on how to get to these files and be able to use them. Thanks.
Demodex 580 Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Can anyone make these available for downloading?
fommes 161 Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Hey, concerning Attack of the Clones, didn't you miss a segment from the Zam Chase? (Music026)?
Alex_B! 0 Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Does the Chase Through Coruscant clip fit somewhere in the album version? If so, where? I couldn't figure out where to edit that in...
soundwave 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't mus_kashyyyk_droid_cave is the part of Palpatine's Teachings where he's telling the story of Darth Plaguis?
Henry B 51 Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Nope. It's a segment of "Goodbye Old Friend" (the Anakin-Padme conversation) and a little "Swimming, Droids, and Yoda Farewell" overdubbed with "Palpatine's TV Set" (the beginning of "Palpatine's Teachings").
King Mark 3,835 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I noticed mostly non thematic music made it into the video game music. There's still alot of interesting underscore of that type in RotS that could make it into games hopefully, like the Darth Plagueis music,or Be Carefull of Your FriendAlso,in my RotS expanded score,I added the twisted force theme at the end of Revisiting Padme to open the cue Grevious Travels to Palpatine since it does not have any sound effects and very clean in the film ripK.M.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Perhaps I'm overlooking something, but I cannot seem to locate Music026.mp3. :?
King Mark 3,835 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I haven't bothered with those missing seconds of Chase Through Coruscant and The Arena yet. The Dooku-Anakin,Dooku Yoda and Elevator scene are the really interesting bit.K.M.Distracted by the porn film playing on TV.
Henry B 51 Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Ah, true, that is clean (I don't hear the Force theme in it though...). Should be an excellent DVD rip as long as the dialogue is kept to the front channels (also looking forward to "Padme's Funeral," "Swimming, Droids, and Yoda Farewell," and "Palpatine Instructs Anakin" clean-ish rips).
King Mark 3,835 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hopefully there won't be the horrible dialogue echo in the rear channels like in AotCK.M.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Let's hope we don't have more dialogue echoing fun like we did with AOTC.Ozzel - who still cannot find Music026.EDIT: What KM said. Ozzel - who wanted to make a joke concerning KM's TV watching but decided against it for the sake of good taste.
Henry B 51 Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Perhaps I'm overlooking something, but I cannot seem to locate Music026.mp3.Eek, sorry, I had that deleted. But it will be back up soon.Ozzel - who wanted to make a joke concerning KM's TV watching but decided against it for the sake of good taste.... Typing one-handed, right? Cerrabore - who lost his sense of "good taste" years ago
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Eek, sorry, I had that deleted. But it will be back up soon.No problem. At least I know I wasn't overlooking something.
John Crichton 4 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 There will be dialogue echo in indoor talking scenes. The way the movies are mixed, pushing the dialogue into all channels to make it sound more "room-like", it's almost unavoidable now. Prisoner of Azkaban has the same problem.
ridan 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Yeah, it's almost impossible to get good rips from modern movies.
John Crichton 4 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Yeah, it's almost impossible to get good rips from modern movies.HP and the Sorcerer's Stone comes out nicely, compared to other rips. No dialogue, only occasional SFX.
Henry B 51 Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 Music026.mp3 from Bounty Hunter is back up at the FTP. Also, the 51-track KotOR soundtrack has been replaced by a complete version (compiled by myself). Sound effects permeate the cutscene music, so you may want to do some editing.
timstephens4 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 It may just be me, but the link to the FTP doesn't go anywhere. Help anyone. Thanks.
Henry B 51 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 That's not supposed to be a link at all. The board formatted it automatically.
macuser02 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 where is this ftp at id like to hear the tracks you have from aotc and more? tia!!
robthehand 3 Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Sorry to sound so stupid, but is this what I need for the extra ROTS music?
Luke Skywalker 2,218 Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Since this is one of the few ROTS remaining topics, i think i know where the music is from in the scene that the Gunship transports the jedi to the airport, to deliver Yoda to Kashyyyk. (originally by williams the corust fanfare). It is from Palpatines arrival to mustafar. Niticeable when the wookiee appears those notes as palpy sees anakin burned, i think.

I think it also uses pieces of the Emperor's Theme from "Enter Lord Vader" and, well, the choral statement, which we don't know the origin of, since it's tracked into several scenes.Sorry to sound so stupid, but is this what I need for the extra ROTS music? If you can get just "Rage of the Wookiees," that would be better. Then again, this whole set is only $30 or something.
MusicHunta131 0 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 I'm still trying to find out how to get the music from the video game files. J2E 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 As a complete noob, my problem wouldn't be extracting the music files, but the actual arranging of the score outlined above. I have 0 musical talent what-so-ever, but oh do I love listening to it. Any chance someone out there might compile such a work for those of us who have purchased all the pieces but just can't assemble the puzzle?
Elmo Lewis 7 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Just how long are of all these snippets? Do you they represent a big deal of unreleased music? (i.e. more than 40 more minutes)
John Crichton 4 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Just how long are of all these snippets? Do you they represent a big deal of unreleased music? (i.e. more than 40 more minutes)For RotS most are short. Another Happy Landing and Yoda Falls are both complete, and the Lament snippet is the only missing portion of that cue. All total I think it's only about 10 minutes worth.
King Mark 3,835 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Well,it's more like 7 minutes of new unreleased music.Kind iof gives us back the 7 minutes wasted in the End Credits suite.K.M.
Delorean90 47 Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Well, it's not just how much music there is (but hey, 7 minutes of JW music ain't bad!). The quality of the music and the changes they make to the OST arrangement are a big part of it. I've been doing the edit, and I really like the way it's turning out. "No, I Promise You"/Going to Utapu/Riding the Boga is a good example that comes to mind. And I think that some of the lighter cues, like "Another Happy Landing" add a bit of balance to the darkness and action. If you have the stuff to do it with, I recommend going for it.
King Mark 3,835 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I agree 100%.Those little snippet of bright music liven up the mood of the OST quite a bit.A much more balanced album results.Adding Another Happy Landing after Track 1 improves things A LOT for example. Then there's other various little fanfares you can tack on between dark tracks. For once we got lucky and interesting stuff leaked out in the VideogamesNow if I had Be Carefull of Your Friend,Palpatine's Big Pitch,I Am the Senarte,Swimming Droids and Yoda Farewell and Padme's Funeral I'd be a happy camper.5 cues away from the ultimate OST album(short of a complete score)K.M.
Henry B 51 Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 Expanded RotS track list updated. "Throne Room" has been removed from the credits, and the full version is now a bonus track.
