Spielberg Starts Filming New Film Next Week PDF Print E-mail

According to USA Today, Steven Spielberg will be back behind the camera starting next week after he heads off to London on Monday to begin shooting War Horse, based on the hit West End play that will come to New York's Lincoln Center next year.

Disney and DreamWorks will release the film Aug. 10, 2011

On June 16, John Williams conducted the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra during the 'Celebrity Preview' ceremony at the 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter', a new addition to Universal's Island of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida. The performance is available on YouTube:

Williams, who oversaw the creation of the score for the 'Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey' ride, also attended the park's Grand Opening on June 18.

Orlando Philharmonic executive director David Schillhammer was interviewed for the Orlando Centinel before and after the event.

Sony Classical has released a 3-CD John Williams compilation featuring Air and Simple Gifts (2009), written for the inauguration of President Barack Obama, as well as Williams' Suite from Memoirs of a Geisha for Cello and Orchestra, plus a selection of previously available recordings of Williams' concert works and film scores. Among the titles included are American Journey, Song for World Peace, The Five Sacred Trees, Elegy for Cello and Orchestra, and concert suites from Born on the Fourth of July and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
