Williams to Conduct the Indianapolis Symphony in February (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Williams will conduct a second performance on February 12.

INDIANAPOLIS – The music that John Williams has written for dozens of movies may be as popular as the films themselves.

The five-time Academy Award winning composer of scores for the “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones” and “Harry Potter” movie franchises will be in Indianapolis on Sunday, Feb. 11 and Monday, Feb. 12 to conduct the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

“This is the only time you’re going to get a chance to see John Williams conduct a local orchestra with his own music, so this is really going to be fantastic,” says Kristin Cutler, Director of Communications with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Cutler also says Williams is donating his time for the performance.

“Maestro Williams is such a generous person. He insisted on not having a fee for this concert. He is donating his time and his talents so that all the proceeds from this orchestra performance go directly to the ISO,” according to Cutler.

Williams will turn 86 on Feb. 8, 2018, just three days before his scheduled concert with the ISO.

Tickets for the public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11. A presale is available for ISO subscribers and donors ($500 and above) beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
