John Williams Awarded Honorary British Knighthood

John Williams has been awarded an honorary knighthood in one of the final awards approved by the Queen before she died this month, The Daily Mail reports.

Williams’ award for services to film music was included in a list of honorary awards for foreign nationals that was updated on September 23.

Honorary awards recognise foreign and Commonwealth nationals who have made an outstanding contribution to the UK. Other holders include director Steven Spielberg and composer André Previn.

Recipients are not entitled to style themselves ‘Sir’ or ‘Dame’, unlike British nationals.
