This 2012 Memorial Day weekend (USA) marks the 35th Anniversary of George Lucas’ STAR WARS. For this occasion, motion graphics animator and documentary filmmaker, Keith Anderson has produced a short YouTube video tribute, in praise of both George Lucas and John Williams, for thirty-five years of ‘great galactic fun!’
“Who wouldn’t be honored and thrilled to have their film scored by John Williams,” Keith Anderson asks. “I had some free time so I developed a storyline while listening to the Maestro’s music for Star Wars and Harry Potter. I then selected motifs and cues which would match the dramatic and comedic scenes precisely without affecting the beauty and tempo of the compositions. I then wrote the dialogue and composed the special effects to match the music as if the movie had been meticulously scored by the Maestro himself. Since I know nearly every note of music by heart, it was easy to accomplish such a daunting task. I voiced the characters and shot the principal photography and edited the production. It took over fifty hours to complete just nine minutes of video, but inspired by the music, it was an absolute joy to do.”
Happy Birthday, STAR WARS!
