On September 1, 2 & 3, John Williams and David Newman will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in the annual ‘Maestro of the Movies’ concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. Williams and Newman already shared the podium last year in a program that included a Star Wars suite featuring music from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Force Awakens (see full coverage of the 2016 concert).
Also at the Bowl, the LA Phil conducted by David Newman will perform the entire scores for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban live to picture on July 6 and July 7, respectively; Williams’ Violin Concerto on July 25 (Stéphane Denève, conductor – Gil Shaham, soloist); and Raiders of the Lost Ark also live to projection on August 4 and August 5 (David Newman, conductor).
