I tend to only visit it now and again when I'm looking for further information on something I didn't already read on the message board. GD is my one-stop-shop for all JW related news and that suits me fine. But I still think the Main Page is an important Home for the site in general and I do appreciate the work that goes into it.

Also, please bear in mind that whenever I do click on the MP I always have to manually select "View Full Site" in order to see the same nice and shiny version as you desktop guys do. That scroll to the bottom of the page, the extra click and another page re-load is a big effort to a lazy bastard such as myself.

See, not exactly alluring is it? But never mind.

I don't bookmark Jwfan.net, and type it in each time. Because of this, I visit the main page every time I come here.

But being honest it is only to click "JwFan Forums" . It's simply laziness. I should check out the articles you guys put up there, every so often.

My only bookmark for this site is General Discussion.

So anyway, I just did the necessary button combo to actually have a gander at what I've been missing and I admit I'm pleasantly surprised...

I'll have to check it out more often! (if only it defaulted to the full version, as it used to before the last site update.)

Thats the first stop to this site. I get to the forums through the main page. So usually multiple times a day, that way I don't really miss anything :D

I kinda thought there would be a "We have a main page?" option.

I don't have the site bookmarked. It would take longer to hunt for a bookmark than it would take to type "jwfan" into the address bar of either Chrome or Firefox, my two browsers of choice, and that brings up either an intelligent search if I have deleted my history, or it remembers my most recent visits if I haven't.

But I usually only give it a cursory glance for whatever news story has landed atop the page before pushing onward to the Forums.

I check the main page every day, sometimes more often than that. I also have the main page RSS in my Google Reader

I agree with Quint that the mobile version of the main page is completely useless and should honestly just be disabled. The normal full desktop version of main page works fine on mobile screens.

I never pay attention to the main site.

I type "www.jwfan.com" and click on the forums.

Never once did I find news on the main page that I didn't read on the board first.

There is your honesty.

Everytime I come to post on JWFAN, which is usually more than once a day. It's not always easy to find all available information on a multi-page thread, because some info will be on page 1, some will be on page 4, some on page 7, etc. It's nice to have all the info in a central place, and then use the threads for speculation.

On a sort of related note: how accurate is this data http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?app=members&module=online&sort_order=desc

I find the consistently large number of "guests" browsing at any one time to be very surprising; staggering, even. Imagine if all those lurkers suddenly began posting?

I usually look at it once or twice a week. I go to the forums by default. I love the main page though. It's just that I don't usually find it necessary to go there first. I definitely check it regularly though.

It's 100% accurate. Why wouldn't it be?

No reason I guess. I'm just genuinely amazed at the amount of unregistered lurkers who frequently browse the message board. Its no wonder the place has gone slack again lately when they're seemingly counting on a handful of regulars to post something new.

Time for another poll.

Woah, I was looking at the list the same time you were

I remember thinking that was odd, especially since a third of them were in the same thread. At least that's what I recall.

There are a LOT of people who visit our website, and our forums, who haven't even signed up for an account and posted in them.

Sorry, I should have been more precise since you obviously take this poll very serious.

I did pay attention to the main site when I came here. However, I stopped caring because, like I said, there were no news for me that 1) I didn't know before and 2) that I found of interest.

I wonder how many of them are bots and spiders that aren't recognized as such by IPB though.

Wait? How many completely unknown people know of my alcohol and prescription medication abuse?

I usually come to the messageboard through the link on the main page and check out the latest news at the same time. So I guess it is nearly every day, once or more times a day.

By my estimates, the entire human population excluding parts of China and North Korea and Cuba are fully capable of typing in a random collection of words with your name and finding you here.

Once every day. I did that even when I didn't visit the messageboard very much. I usually peek into the messageboard every day too, but participate in only a few topics (usually the ones with an original angle and that have relatively few replies), as most of the mammoth topics are about things I don't really have any interest in.

Almost daily.

This year, I reduced my film score collection but any John Williams title of course. He's the true master for me. So every day, since years (a decade ?), I open the main page from the site. Remember "your daily dose of JW" ? Loved that! There's often something new to read.

But I understand, as Williams slowed his career, that you ask for the question.

But hold on please, 2012 will mark Williams' 80th birthday, the 35th anniversary of the original Star Wars score, the 30th anniversary of E.T., the 25th anniversary of Empire of the Sun, 20th anniversary of JURASSIC PARK, etc. Good reasons for articles & celebrations!

Jurassic Park's 20th anniversary is 2013, not 2012
