INGLEWOOD, Calif. \u2014 Tonight\u2019s College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T<\/em> (7:30 ET, ESPN) represents the pinnacle of the season.<\/p>\n

A game of this magnitude requires an opening for the ages, and ESPN\u2019s Creative Content Unit has delivered just that with an original score from celebrated composer John Williams.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cOf Grit And Glory,\u201d the anthem is \u201cmagical, hopeful and powerful,\u201d according to co-director and producer Martin Khodabakhshian.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Star Wars,\u2019 \u2018Jurassic Park,\u2019 \u2018Harry Potter,\u2019 \u2018Home Alone,\u2019 \u2018Indiana Jones\u2019 . . . John Williams is a genius,\u201d Khodabakhshian said. \u201cOn the cusp of the release of \u2018Indiana Jones 5,\u2019 he wrote us an original composition, and it\u2019s a big score. It\u2019s like he took the best pieces of all his scores and did something special for ESPN.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to try to make some people cry at the end of this thing. I can\u2019t oversell it. It\u2019s beautiful. It\u2019s amazing. [This process] was one of the most extraordinary experiences I\u2019ve ever had and a highlight of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Legendary composer John Williams has written an original theme for ESPN\u2019s College Football Playoff National Championship, airing at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Monday night prior to the TCU-Georgia game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cOf Grit and Glory,\u201d it runs three and a half minutes and will score a specially created series of visuals that convey \u201cthe feeling behind the night, fear and anticipation, triumph and failure,\u201d ESPN co-director and producer Martin Khodabakhshian tells Variety.<\/p>\n

Williams\u2019 new music \u2013 previewed for Variety late Thursday \u2013 plays like a joyful overture, opening with fanfares and shifting seamlessly from martial urgency to anthemic splendor, all richly orchestrated and instantly memorable.<\/p>\n
