The JWFan.net Message Board is aimed to be a discussion and information exchange forum mainly focused on JOHN WILLIAMS related topics. In order to make the forum an enjoyable experience for everyone, we are providing this service under the following Rules and Regulations:

01 - Personal attacks or offensive language will not be allowed. Please be RESPECTFUL of one another, allow for differences in opinions, and please don't make anyone feel that they cannot post their views in this forum.

02 - You may not post any material that disparages race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or nation.

03 - Discussions concerning film music, movies or music in general are allowed in the General Discussion forum. For topics unrelated to the aforementioned you can use the Other Topics board.

04 - In order to avoid controversial off-topic debates, political and religious references are NOT ALLOWED on any of the forums.

05 - DO NOT type your posts in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS including the subject line. These can be used for emphasis but are annoying to read if used for the entire message or subject line.

06 - Do not post SPOILERS in the subject line of a post. The subject line should have the word ?Spoiler?, then write the spoilers in the body of the post.

07 - You shall not impersonate any person or entity, including but not limited to, a message board administrator or a registered member.

08 - Regarding the NEWS posts: ALWAYS cite the source of your report, providing a link to the original page if the news was first posted on another website.

09 - DO NOT post unofficial/unconfirmed news as if they were official or confirmed. There is a big difference between an unconfirmed RUMOR and an official report. Always verify your sources.

10 - DO NOT "copy and paste" CD/film reviews or full interviews that can be found online. You may provide a link to the original page instead.

11 - Avoid posting VIDEO or MUSIC files and/or promoting pages containing VIDEO or MUSIC files such as MPEG, Windows Media, RealMedia or MP3 unless they are from your own creations or compositions. You may provide links to pages (not direct links to files) that LEGALLY use video or sound clips for promotional purposes (review sites, online stores, mp3.com artists...)

12 - If you want to trade with any Williams related item, please use the Trading Board

13 - The forum moderator reserves the right to edit, move or delete the contents of any post without prior notice.

14 - If your post was edited or removed and you think it was not in violation of the rules, please contact the moderator via e-mail.

15 - If a contributor fails to comply with one or more of these rules repeatedly, he will not be able to post in the future.

16 - These rules & guidelines may be amended at any time.

A few additions on netiquette and such (no big offenses, but I will be editing posts if I see them, so please keep these in mind, if only to save me the trouble):

- Maximum width for images posted in messages will be 800 pixels. If the image is wider than that, please post a simple short link.

- Maximum size for signature images will be 250 x 640 pixels (height x width). Please note that this is a maximum! If it's 640p wide, I assume it's a banner, so there's no need for it to be 250p high, really. Less is more, folks.

- Please use the "Edit" button! Double posts make the board look cluttered. If there's stuff that can fit all in one post, please make it so. If it's been a couple of hours it's okay (although you may find your posts merged later after all), but if you're posting multiple replies in quick succession, it's really unnecessary to have three posts within five minutes. If you're replying to several posters by quoting, holding the Ctrl button while pressing the "Quote" button in FireFox will open a new tab with the reply window. If you have several, just type up all your seperate replies and then lump them into one thread. If you're using Internet Explorer, holding the Shift button while clicking "Quote" will yield a similar result (only the reply window will come up in a new window rather than a tab).

- Don't bump joke threads (especially in Other Topics) by a simple "kick" or "bump" post. If they've dropped way down the page and people haven't posted in it for months, it's probably because the joke is dead.

- No post count threads, please.

Thank you,

- Marc

A word about bootlegs and leaked materials

Dear JWFanners,

For a long time, the discussion of bootlegs or other leaked material has been tolerated on JWFan.net.

Unfortunately, it has lately grown to such a phenomenon that leaks of much sought-after material is announced as if it were news (which, let's face it, it sort of is, but it's still illegal). This includes leaks of bootleg scores as well as artwork for upcoming releases.

As a result, JWFan.net is turning into something of a pirate cove lately and it is not a direction the moderating team wishes to go in. JWFan.net wishes to support the official release of motion picture soundtracks both by major record labels and niche market labels such as Varèse, LaLaLand, Intrada, FSM, etc. The open discussion of leaked materials does not help that.

Therefore, effective immediately, the discussion of leaked bootlegs, recording sessions etc. is prohibited on the JWFan.net message boards. This also includes the public offering of this material on the trading boards.

Now, because we have a thing called The Custom Covers Thread where unofficial artwork is regularly posted, there is a a slight amendment to that as well: for anything other than alternate artwork (being alternate covers for an existing official release), please remove the complete tracklisting from the back cover.

Old postings will remain intact, but new posts will be watched with a closer eye.

This does not affect threads like the Star Wars Prequel Music Resours, which involve JWFanners' own personal projects without use of leaked recording sessions.

I hope you can understand and will observe this new rule.

Thank you,

- Marc
