- John Williams Brings Down the House in Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Debut – The vivid progression from spicy atonality to soaring lyricism in an excerpt from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” is one example of the craftsmanship, and it was great to hear the BSO perform that music with such finesse and expressive thrust. - Moments that Remind Me What Is Possible – Williams’ freedom is natural and refreshing, and his willingness to let us find our own way to his sense of phrasing communicates a sense of trust from the podium that brings out the best in the players.
